Thanks for the wiring diagram dale it will help. I took the guard off last night to check out the wiring. It all looks okay from when I originally done all the work, that particular earth wire must have just been on its way out as its very thin. I checked for continuity from the wire to the inside of the car and it works fine so I will probably have to replace the section of wiring going into the door. Hopefully have it fixed by tonight. Is there an easy way to put the guard clips back into the bumper?

hey guys, so yesterday was in the garage and I opened the door to my XF ghia and noticed the door key hole wasn't lighting up. Further investigation tells me that the earth wire leading to the door lock is bust via multimeter (red and black wire is getting power). I replaced the entire door loom a while back for one from the wreckers and was working fine for ages. Haven't been really driving the car tbh. I'm wondering where the illuminated door lock earth leads to as in does it join up to other earths in the door and then exit as one wire? I am trying to avoid removing the guard just to access one wire and fix it... it takes too damn long. any advice on the easiest way? Worst case I would have to remove the guard and check the wire to see if its stuffed. cheers, alex.

Thanks mate that's what I did initially just removed the guard and soldered up my new door loom. It all worked first go. Looks like now the earth wire has gone cactus. Looks like ill have to do the same thing again. I hate removing the guard and putting those damn bumper clips back in lol so annoying. XE is so much easier with just bolts.

I had that happen to me as well but then got another batch and it seems to be okay. I think high pressure hoses and lots of sunlight kill them quickly.

bodyline use to make the stuff for ford, they still do and that is the stuff you want. It is available from supercheap auto called "wheel arch mould" about $25 which is enough to do the front and rear bumpers.

All good guys theyre all installed and fitted. Went off the cig lighter for 12v and earth, used a cluster globe for illumination. Made the loom removable if i change my mind one day ( doubt it)

Hey guys, Can anybody suggest a good spot to grab 12v source for my gauge lights in my pod? I prefer a place that doesnt involve cutting but possibly splitting a connector into a t? Also a good place used on ignition to get my volts reading? The car is an xe ghia. Cheers.

Hey guys, Been chasing a set of new rear courtesy lights for a while and on ebay the NOS ones go for way too much. I've been doing some research and noticed a few fords from the states also have the same courtesy lights. Can you purchase them anywhere in australia ? Cool thanks mate, I know of them and hopefully can get them to do a set. Have to play around with taking them apart.

I noticed there aren't any gaps for the clips in the c pillar, is there any other way to restore these? I'm not talking about chrome painting them either lol

Cool so mustang ones are no problem. I have a few sets but they arnt perfect compared to the original ones in my xe.

Sparky dave ive just finished my xe ghia with the entire engine bay bolts etc getting zinc plated, the outside gutters resprayed and new stickers all round. Currently finishing my xf ghia and will show results once done will look brand new. I do one car at a time so i can cruise one while the other is off the road lol.

Hey guys, In the process of cleaning up the engine bay in my 1984 December/1985 January XF ghia. Wondering if anybody has the same car or a 1985 ZL Fairlane and can take a photo of the emissions decal for me as mine is really scratched and unreadable in some spots. I'd like to get it remade by graffix unlimited so I need a clear shot of the decal. Cheers, Alex.

Wow it says 4.1 eec... here i was assuming to put it as efi. Lucky i didnt!!. I am going to photoshop up the entire sticker and send it to grafix unlimited to be remade. I will keep everyone updated. This will be the second sticker ive had made for public on his website (first was the efi eecv xf ghia aluminium overlay).

Correct, that's the emission decal featured on my 1984 XE as well. They are different due to those changes. Otherwise I'd be following that. Thanks for the photo though mate!

They decal was different between 1985 and 1986 when they changed to unleaded motors. I have a photo of the unleaded one which is different from mine. Trying to chase up the one on my car which is silver as opposed to yellow on the 1986 and contains different writing.

Hey man that would be awesome! I'm assuming if its a 1985 model it will have the same emissions decal on the drivers side gutter in the engine bay. Hopefully its readable unlike mine and then I can get grafix unlimited to make the emissions decal for public buying in the future. Cheers, Alex.

Nah won't do, I have a photo of a 1986 emissions decal and its different. I'm hopeful that I can find the right one otherwise I might have to assume what the missing writing is on my decal. 1985 XFs are unfortunately not very common these days :<

Hey mate he probably already has those emissions decals on his website just google grafix unlimited and check his range. It needs to be a 1985 efi ghia or fairlane as carby emissions decals are different.
