Cheers guys, very edumacational. I would have thought the computer would have adjusted to it but after riding around for a day with it out, it was exactly the same.

It's fuel injected, would have to get it tuned.
-
So how come removing said restriction made it noticeably less responsive then?

^. Or if you're feeling dodgy, sikaflex. If that doesn't work, more sikeflex.

Can't say I'm a fan... Does anyone actually even look at their tacho when sinking the boot in though? I always watch the road...

Also nice sig

Low profile tyres on big rims don't suit older cars. Just like 14s with heaps of rubber would look retarded on an FG. Other than the wheels I reckon it looks sweet.

I kinda feel like unfamilia needs to chime in here about rod stroke or something.

Definately not a fan.

Pretty sure that sounds like me. ... Guys?
-
Oooh. Yeah maybe not hey.

Buy it... Then send me the link so I can buy one too. Lets you rev the 250 higher but the pistons to suit are stupid hard to come by.
-
On a crossy the standard bolts are longer... I got around it by just using a couple of crush washers to space it out.

That's very similar to what I have, just be aware that plastic hose probably isn't rated for oil and those hose clamps will be shit (ask me how I know ). Maybe one of the others can chime in here but IIRC the PCV valve needs vacuum from the manifold to work properly.
-
I've got the $20 ebay special on mine, no baffling or anything, just a sealed can. Does the job - holds the vacuum fine and the oil just falls into the bottom of can instead of getting sucked into the intake. Just butchered the mounting plate a bit and attached it to one of the bolts sticking out near the heater core, hasn't moved at all. Looks a bit cluttered next to the carbon canister with all the air con stuff there too though, hoses running everywhere Almost a stock engine but was getting heaps of blowby (from sitting for years I guess). Found it actually helped much more than I expected it to in terms of throttle response and making the engine sound healthier, less bogging etc. Can't say if a more expensive one would be better but I have no complaints about this one so far and it shouldn't get defected on the off chance the bonnet gets popped on the side of the road.

Damn that's one tidy machine. Don't see many like that anymore.

Squeaking from drivers side shock tower

Just went and picked myself up a new heart for the XD. I know I was planning to do a six, but after driving the XR8 I realized ~200hp and the sound of a six just wasn't going to cut it... With the amount of aftermarket bits and reading material for Clevos I reckon it's probably the better option at this point. Might get crazy in future and do a boosted Crossy or something once I learn more about the process but for now it's Clevo time! Way too dark for photos now but I'll put some up tomorrow... Anyway, the engine I got is a 302 out of an XC Fairmont Wagon I think, according to the engine no. I'm guessing whatever car it belonged to is now a bunch of beer cans or something as it looks to have been sitting for a really long time. The guy I got it off said it was from a deceased estate, just sitting in the back of a ute in a shed. It's seen better days for sure, was sludgy and manky as hell when I took one of the rocker covers off. Turns over ok though. It's mostly complete except for a couple of bolt ons, which is good since I won't go having to chase random parts and play the "identify what size bolt I need for this random hole" game. To be honest it's a little rougher than I would have liked but seeing as I'll be replacing most of the stuff anyway that's not really too much of a problem. There's a really good chance it's a virgin bore, doesn't look to have ever been rebuilt at a glance, all the original paint is even still on it. Won't know for sure what's happening in there till I take it apart though... Anyway, no specific build just yet, but I do plan to track down a 351 crank etc to rebuild it as one. Hopefully it can officially remain a 302 which is easier to avoid any hassles (doesn't say I'm not allowed to drive a 351 XD but plenty of 351 falcons up to XB are banned, XC-XE aren't even mentioned...yet). Not sure how viable it would be cost wise but I'd also like to try and use as much lightweight/alloy stuff as possible to keep the weight down a bit (free HP right? ) and make it handle less like a wet sponge once the Clevo is in the nose. In terms of what I want from it, I'd be happy with an ok all-rounder (not a daily). Something that I can take to the drags a couple of times a year, do a hill climb or two with and still be able to drive it down to the shops or whatever. I realise this means it won't be competitive but it's more for fun than anything else. So without getting too crazy to build or shitty/unreliable to drive, what's a good amount of horses to shoot for? 350-450 should be easily do-able from what I've read. Haven't made any decision as to the rest of the driveline yet other than the fact it will have a manual box behind it

Haven't used them myself but I know a few people here do and haven't heard anything bad about them. I don't like them because they overprice a lot though. I did all my front end in Nolathane and am regretting it a bit because of the harshness. If I was gonna do it again I'd do anything that goes up and down (control arms, spring saddle etc) in rubber and anything that goes sideways (sway bar bushes, steering etc) in urethane.

This thread is worth a read. http://www.ozfalcon.com.au/index.php?/topic/2603-warning-please-read-cheap-parts-danger/ I used all TRW (ball joints and steering parts) and Nolathane (lower control arms and bushes) branded stuff in my XD, + King springs and whiteline sway bars, no complaints so far about quality. Would stay away from monroe shocks. They do the job but ride like shit. Most people seem to run koni/bilsteins in their X series, XYZ also do coilover kits for the front - I've ordered a set and am waiting to see if they're any good.

Not n/a or a 6 but still worth sharing. EDIT...Moved to You tube thread

Looks like shit just got serious and I bought myself a front brake upgrade for the XD - problem is my stockies and 12 slotters are 14 inch and I need at least 15s to clear the brakes. Anyone got any good suggestions? Not looking to spend more than 400ish on a set. Would prefer something a bit more stock-ish/inconspicuous looking as opposed to hectic gold 20 inch simmons or whatever. Always fun to suggest stuff when it's someone else's money
