  1. Speak to dellow. I have a 2L pinto with a T5 behind it going into an escort. Dellow can provide you with everything needed and can do either hydraulic or cable clutch.

Yep was just talking to them end of last week! Castlemaine couldn't help and put me on to Dellows!

  2. I did the 2.0 up in mine, nothing overly hard core, biggish cam (I'll find the specs), raised comp, the head had a bit of work, enlarged the exhaust valve from memory, bit of port n polishing and decked, adjustable vernier cam gear.

Induction was twin side draft webers, exhaust was some 4 into 1 headers and a 2.something inch pipe.

Light flywheel and the Sierra 5 speed.

Had a very nasty idle, similar to a Bridgeport rotary, pulled some good revs and went well for what it was.

Car was grey and dropped down on 13x7 hotwires.

    Was cool in 1997/8.

Hell yeah, that's almost exactly what i'm looking at doing aside from the hotwires haha

  3. Have found out that Dellows do a bell housing for it if I end up going that way with the T5. Castlemain Rod shop couldn't help but put me on to Dellows.

The aim at this point is just to get it on the road and then do the conversion a little down the track once funds are replenished (a losing battle here with 3 projects siphoning it away - i'm sure we all know the feeling!)

Thanks for the help guys, and dougie77 the 'cheaper on fuel' idea was around pre-webbers but I just can't help myself now so the fuel economy is out the window since I really want to keep the 4cyl and just see what I can push it to do!

  4. I'd just leave the 4L on the front of the T5 and be done with it..... hehe... Good excuse for an Upgrade.

    Jack.

Haha yeah, yeah - are you sure you haven't been talking to my other half??

Cheap rego on the 4cyl and hopefully more fuel efficient if I can get the 5 speed to work, just going for a punchy little cheap daily :)

  5. I'd be mindful of where the shifter sits in a Corty, as the factory single rail in the 6 cyl had its shifter mounted further forward than in a Falcon. Using a Falcon T5 would have similar issues.

The easiest (maybe not cheapest) way of getting 5 speeds is to maybe use a Sierra box/bellhousing?

Yeah the Sierra is definitely the easiest way to go by all accounts that I can find but no pain no gain right? haha And can't pass up that fact that I have a free T5 available to use.

I've seen where some people have done the T5 swap and needed to modify the floor a little here and there to fit the shifter in but doesn't seem like a major exercise from what I can tell.

  6. Just seeing if anyone has any experience with putting a T5 on a 2L pinto engine?

Can't really seem to find any solid info on the conversion. Trying to see if it's a bigger hassle than it's worth or not.

If there's an easier suggestion i'm open to it as well just have a spare T5 handy is all.

    Cheers!
