  1. Can you explain the superheat part ? 
    I asked all the places in town and even the google machine and never got a straight answer . I ask because there is 2 tx valves available with different properties , I forget which one I got . 
    when I got the car it had a complete sealed York system on it but the pump was shot , I replaced it with a used xf sanden style pump . It’s all original xseries stuff other than the r12 

    I did notice that when I charged it , when it cycled on , the low side was only around 15-20 psi at around 2k rpm . Maybe just needs more gas ? 


  2. Hi all . 
    has anyone had some luck in getting the ac in their xd any colder  than an evaporative cooler ?? 
    I have an xf pump ,condenser and receiver dryer , low pressure hose routed to passenger side so it don’t burn on exhaust lol and an r134a tx fitted with the std xd evaporator. The system has 750g of gas as a start , the most info I could find said around that weight though mine will be a little different due to miss match components. I might have to resort to lpg if all else fails haha 


  3. Greg - cracking at the pivot don't sound too reassuring. That would have been an 11" unit too , I would have assumed it would be stronger 

     

    351xd - are you talking twin plate like the gt's came with or multi plate tilton type things ? 

    The gt style ones still have the tq straps on them like a normal diaphragm clutch  . For the shifter i have an old school beefy master gasket v-gate to smash the gears with haha 


  4. Sooo has anyone ever used a 'long style' or 3finger clutch before ??? 

     

    I keep exploding regular diaphragm style clutches with my xflow lol 

    by exploding I mean breaking / tearing the torque straps out of them . 

    My train of thought was that the 3finger units don't have torque straps so can't break them ! 

    Can get them in 10.5" Windsor units which are the same as 4.0l so should bolt up ok . 

    I have also acquired a toploader to put behind the xflow , no more pussy footing around hoping not to destroy the single rail = need for a good clutch hahaha 


  5. 91 cam in the T head it is then . 

    Thinking about changing the head vs just the last adjuster is that I have the parts and it's got 250+kms and is really slow lol 

    more comp is always good 

    as far as manifolds . Being an eb I don't have bbm control , would it be worth fitting the bbm and the actuator just to manifold vacuum ? 

    I read somewhere that an el ecu can be retrofitted without too much drama ? 

    Do xr6 ecu have different tune ? 

     

     

    Edit . Turns out the noisy lifter was no6 intake . Swaped it out and all good . 

    But still don't explain 60psi down on no3 cyl lol 


  6. Ok brains trust , I recently acquired a 93 eb Fairmont. It has a failed/noisy lifter . No3 cyl is down on comp so I assume it's on cyl3 lol 

    so im looking into a head swap 

    the head on it is a 91 with a 91 cam 

    I also have a 95T head w 94T cam 

    and an ef head and cam that I haven't got the numbers off yet . 

    From what I've read the std ef head flows the most and the 91 head is junk . 

    What head and cam combo should I use to get the best bang ?? 

    Also , how much can be machined off these heads to get comp up ?? 

    Not much from the looks of the intake valve seat lol 

    And ! What head gasket ?   Is the mls thinner than the composite? 


  7. Didn't the xy gt have globes ? 

    Thinking i will clean up the flat lip set , put some tyres on and use those . Then get rid of the other 2 sets lol I really really want to burn the eagers into the ground (245/60 with near new tread but old and hard) unless they're worth something these days ?

  8. Who knows what about globe style wheels ? 

    I have 3sets and all are different to each other ( 14x7 so not particularly valuable lol )

    I'll get some pics up directly , 

    the set that have my interest have flat lips on them and a raised centre bit from the spokes  

     

    1st is on the car so can't get a pic from behind

    But note a very square lip where the weights go

    2nd set has no markings what so ever and a fairly smooth lip

    And the 3rd set with the flat lip and raised area , they have some size castings and other things I can't make out on the back and a 79date stamp ?

    Thinking the last set could be genuine globes ?

     

     

     


  9. Can anyone tell me which wire in the b pillar is the + side of the interior light on an xd ?

     

    im looking to dodge it up so when a door is opened it sounds the horn . Sick of people busting the barrels out of my doors , is better to bait them with an unlocked door and then run out and beat them with a stick lol 

     

    is there copy of the wiring diagrams on here somewhere ? 


  10. I'm also very interested in the 11cfm gain in the chamber mods , I thought it was a good shape already ?? And did the manifold improve flow ? 

    my intake valve is std size so I can probable pick up a little from increasing that
