Can anyone tell me journal sizes and stroke of an au crank compared to earlier cranks ?? I did a google search but I'm retarded and didn't find anything , Pulled apart a late model xh ute engine hoping to find a full counterweight ef crank , but appears to be an au crank ...

Yep the ct142-528 and the v8 3.06 first , I think it's what I have . Good to 'idle' about car parks with the lumpy cam
-
Noooooooooooooooooooooooo lol the camtech 528 is much better imo . Also , I'd go the short first gear singlerail .

Has anyone used tarago shocks in a leaf spring falcon ??? Theyre 246 compressed And 386 extended (ultima 360741) compared to 300 and 480 ish for standard shocks will they be too short extended ??? thryre pretty cheap too also looking at ultima 400069s for the front , the lowest I can find (210 compressed vs 245 std )

Can the timing be tuned in the ecu or is pre mapped ? Might be better to run msd and locked timing
-
El is probably the better option . I don't understand why they went to coil pack on ef then changed back to dizzy for el and then back to coil pack for au . Stupid ford
-
Cutting and welding the bell housing , same as the intake manifold . It sounds like I'll have to find an eb and use it for the conversion . Just Means I'll have to have a dizzy instead of the coil pack
-
I'm not sure if it's been covered before . So I'm wanting to put a btr behind a xflow and run full el/f engine management . The only thing I'm not really sure is the ignition side of Things . How do late e series get their ignition timing ?? Is it only from the cam angle sensor as a reference then set in the ecu or do they have another input somewhere else , like a crank angle sensor ( I think ba have this ?) Only reason I want el management is for the coil packs , just need to find out what makes it work .

I'm old school but I think the best bang for you buck driving light are the good old aircraft landing light if you can find some !! Chuck some fresh 150w sealed beams in and your set

Can a 221 crank fit a xflow ? What mods / rods / Pistons ect would be required ?
-
The way I understand it , lift and tighter lsa = torque . But the less lobe separation means the power comes on quicker but falls over quicker aswell .

Bosch WR7DC+ , for me . With aftermarket ignition systems you don't need a resistor type plug . But I got them for reliability

I don't know the exact size of the waterpump pulley but I'm pretty sure it's the same size as the std harmonic balancer , so would drive 1.1 normally . So to work it out you divide the circumference of the driven pulley (waterpump) by the driving pulley ( crank) and the alternator is an idler so it has no effect I think !
-
I use a big xd/c pulley from a mechanical fan water pump . Water pump pulley size shouldn't affect the alternator at all , only the crank drive and alt pulley . Mine was also 10% under driven so was probably a bit slow with the big water pump pulley at idle , but would be good with std size crank drive

I use Bosch units , they cost a bit extra . I had a heap of ngk plugs fail for no apparent reason . Had no troubles with the Bosch ones
-
I'm using the Fuchs stuff Seems to be doing the job , was thinking penrite racing 20 . But was warned full syn in no good for xflows . So I dunno . Can only try I guess

Can some one explain the difference between API SL/CF (25w60) & API SJ/CF(20w50) And I've always wondered if using straight 50 weight oil would be any good

Random question .. What top ring material do you use ?
-
Hmmmmmmmm Where do I get me one of these THOR engins from ?
-
I shouldn't have looked in here . Now I'm all hard for a tc/d to put my xflow in haha
-
It sounds silly but don't over tighten the belt ! Only just is just enough Also , don't re use the belt once it's been chucked. It stretches the nylon in them . As far as balancers go . I still have a bog stock factory ford one on , I rev to 6600 and it don't chuck the belt . Lord knows why not tho . Rob will probably flame me for not using my powerbond unit , but it needs a rebuild ... Just looking at your pic , is the very front v-groove bolted on or part of the ballancer ?

Ba-fg sedan rear bump stops on x-series?
Grimmy replied to Free.51's topic in Steering, Suspension and Brakes
Is this front or rear for the X series ? I use ba front bump stops in the front of mine , I assume they'ed work in the rear of an xe/f aswell Rear ba bumpstops are huge , fronts are smaller and look more like rear X series -
XH Ute "Idiot needs help" on transmission, distributer and vaccums
Grimmy replied to Bill Wilson's topic in 4.0 OHC
I had a very similar problem with an ef i had . Turned out to be a fuel pump ! I don't know what the procedures are to check them as I had a pump at arms reach , banged it in and it was fine .- 11 replies

11? Definitely not haha high 13's maybe . 300hp is pushing it , unless you invest big dollars . I doubt mine has 300 , but it still hauls arse
