Bolts line up on on ba flex plate to my converter and atleast visually when stacked on-top of each other ba and xf flex plate appear to be same size and same tooth count (I can't be bothered counting) think I'll slap it in when the time comes and see what happens

Bugger! Any suggestions on what to look for for the flex plate?Flex plate has a different tooth count and convertor mounting holes due to using a BTR gearbox vs a BW or C4.
You can use the bolts but the flex is no good to you.

Was considering that. But ended up picking up bolts and a flexplate from NUKOOP wreckers in Rockingham for $70just a thought maybe you could get the bolts from Mandurah bolt supplies as you know what size ect

Excellent thank you

Been doing a bit more digging looks like b series use the same size bolt as well. Anyone know if a b series flex plate would fit as well? Might increase my chances of getting a flex plate and bolts from a near by wrecker that mostly does b and f series Falcons. Thank you

Looks like the bolts from an E series 6cyl are what is needed would that be correct? Would an E series flex plate be the go as well?
Thanks

Hey All
So my old engine is an 84DA block new one is 86DA. Discovered last night they use a different flexplate bolt (common knowledge to most I'm sure but I'm a bit slow)
Does anybody know what bolt the 86DA crank uses for the flexplate? Or better yet an ARP part number?
Will I need a new flex plate to suit the different crank? I would assume with the 86DA bolts being smaller the bolt holes on my original flexplate would be too big, is this an issue?
Any info will be greatly appreciated.
Cheers

Crazy, how low is your car? What springs?
-
Well I went for roughly half way between full soft and full stiff ill report back how that feels

Hey All
To anybody running the Koni reds, What do you have your rebound set up? mine is currently on the softest and i think I'm going to adjust it a turn or 2.
Thanks

Ye scrolled through about half of that and most the pics didn't work which is what prompted my post. I'll keep browse the 2nd half

Hey all
Looking for a comparison on super low vs ultra low. I know this has been covered in previous threads but unfortunately most of the photo links are now broken
Car isn't a daily and I will be splashing on some short konis as well.
Please share pics and or measurements to centre of wheel and share your experiences (clearance issues? Guard rolling required? ECT)
Thanks in advance.

Cheersi can give you a brief description..
TFI has a TFI module on the side..(no vac advance thingy)
EST has nothing on the side (no vac advance thingy)
electronic one has a squarish box with 2 screws in the top and a chip inside.. 4 wires onto the chip.. has vac advance and inside has 6 pointy doover thingys that almost touch other whatsits.
points(XD iron head and prior had them, thicker shaft so it can't fit later blocks.. has vac advance also but points inside
if i find pics before i forget i'll post again

Hi All
I've been doing my ignition system research and I keep seeing people referring to EST, TFI and electronic distributors. Only thing is no body seems to mention what the difference is or what they look like? (guess its just one of those things people just know)
So My Guestion/s are
Whats an EST dizzy?
Whats a TFI Dizzy?
Whats an electronic Dizzy?
How do you tell the difference?
and if you are really keen what are the pros and cons?? why use one over the other?
Sorry if it's a dumb questions but it's doing my head in and I haven't been able to find an answer on the forum or on the all mighty google
Thank You

Will be for xf. Not interested in a monster tacho it's not a sex spec lancer after all. If I was going to add an aftermarket one it would be smaller and a bit more subtle then that.
Not sure on location or which gauges which is why I'm keen to see/hear what others have done.
I'm leaning towards triple gauges in individual pods on the outside Infront of windscreen. And then gauges I'm tossing up between oil pressure, water temp, fuel pressure and volts.

Hey Folks,
I'm seeking some inspiration/ideas.
Show us your gauge installs. What gauges have you gone with? oil pressure? Engine temp? Fuel pressure? And how/where have you mounted them?
What gauges and pods or mounts did you use? How/where did you hook them up? What did you find worked or didn't work?
Keen to see what's been done.
Cheers

Great idea I'll give that a go thanks alot.Wire needs to be decent, i'd go 2.5mm and 40A fuse.
You could cut fan supply through a changeover relay connected to your oil pressure lamp. Changeovers have two outputs 87 and 87a. Connect power to 87a (normally closed) and when you turn on ignition, oil pressure lamp comes on, relay powers up and 87a goes dead. Start engine, once oil pressure lamp goes out, relay switches off and 87a goes live again, turning fans on.

Hey all, sorry for bringing up a slightly old thread. Got a couple. Of quick questions for you all.
1. What gauge wire are you using for wiring up the fans?
2. What can be done to delay the fans coming on when first starting the car? The issue I've got (comes up at the drags alot) is shut the car off when still hot. Go to refire car when it's still got and fans kick in straight away before car has a chance to start. Fans draw to much power car won't start battery dies.
Any suggestions?

Thanks guys. Was on the side of the fence of just getting another good one but was curious non the less.
Asr quoted me 375 + gst and I have to send them a factory sump. So pretty cheap really.
Ando got any details/pics of that sump? Probably a bit hard to do a swap since I believe we are opposite sides of the country.

Hi All
I'm curious. I picked up a built crossflow out of a cortina (high comp solid cam) it has an Asr performance sump on it. Since its going into and xf I need to swap sumps.
Is there any value in me getting another high performance sump to suit or can I just use a standard one?
Car is going to be mostly Street driven with the odd run at the drags / power cruise type event.
Thanks

Not sure if this the right place for this. But was hoping to see where/how other people out there have mounted and set up electric fuel pumps.
Cheers
