    351 cleveland correct thermostat

If your clevo has the brass plate installed in place then even the standard thermostat blocks the bypass,,, when it opens the plunger slides into the hole allowing 3/5's of stuff all to go back through and directs it through the radiator,, the foot type seals it like a tap washer,, I've been running std type 160's for years and mine always run cool,,, if your clevo runs hot I'd suggest you have other issues to look at as well. I run EF thermo's and 3 core radiator

    HYD LIFTERS AND PUSHRODS

If your running anti pump up lifter with heavy valve springs it will tap dance all day every day at idle, I run Johnson hylift and the tick at idle is barely noticeable, most people can't hear it unless I point out and make them listen,,,,, alternatively buy a kick ass stereo and a sub,,, problem solved,, :-)

    SOMETHING WEIRD HAPPEND

It's a Holley thing they never hold tune,,, LOL,,,,you might find the secondary needle and seat sticking was your issue, had this same thing happen in a 600,,, did it twice, replaced the needle and seat and never did it again

    DIZZY CURVE

I bent the posts ever so slightly to tighten the tension a tad in the springs and put a stop in the plate to restrict the total advance,, used to run 16-18 @ idle advancing to total 32 degrees,, it absolutely screamed. When hot it would crank a little slower for about one second and then fire like an angry beast.
