XE seat rail spacer

Recommended Posts

Hi,

First time post here.

Is the attached seat spacer standard issue? I have just replaced jammed seat adjusters and found that one seat has the spacer and the other doesn’t. It sits between the seat and the adjuster. If so where could I source a pair? It’s a XE 1983 Fairmont.

Gday, and welcome,

do you have a photo of the other side of the seat? does it have tilt?(often the tilt mechanism cracks, could be bodged somehow)

if it's not a tilt seat, they may have just fitted that to raise the seat? or level it due to broken spings?

the seats did have black plastic spacers about 12mm thick, i've never seen one broken.

i've never seen a bracket like that one you've pictured though

Thanks Gents,

yes it’s the ESP scheel seats. I should have mentioned that thinking it would be the same as a standard seat. Thanks for that info as it was a tough part to find which makes sense now. Was starting to think it was off a Kia. Lol

I have left them out for the moment, with the intention of having two more made up.

Those brackets come up for sale every now and again

i've had the scheel seats a few times and still never seen them.. but i didn't remove them from the rails.

Well I have replaced my rails recently and the originals that I replaced did not have any spacers. I just replaced the rails with new ones. Mind you previous owners of my XE ESP could have removed them if they were on board.

As said, for ESP only, without them the mechanism rubs on the bottom of the seat, I took mine out and made half height ones (25 mm) so I don’t rub on the steering wheel getting in and out, and angled the ends at 45deg so they go a bit further forward so my short as missus can get the seat forward enough.
