if Dave is still alive and kicking in 50 years, and can still drive, when he finally gets the XG going again, he is doing well haha

this thread has been a little quiet today?

Ive been at work since 9am, have an hour to go. im so bloody bored shitless. but, sunday penalty rates are ace :D

it will be low kms, date code correct though.

if i'm still around in 50yrs i'll be 95.. driving will be the least of My concern.

think of the changes in the last 20yrs.. then think forward what could be possible in the next 20yrs..

hopefully one of the changes will be to go back in time.. i'll go back to 1985 i reckon.

Nothing cost more than two bucks so it didn't matter what wages were. I'd have to take Mrs with me obviously... she wasn't around for most of that period

I think it was about 1992 when i went to the footscray fresh swap meet. and there were two XBGTs for $4000 each, or two 68 Camaros for  $4000 each also. naturally i didn't have anywhere near that.. but My mate's first car was a ZG fairlane he also paid $4000 for

In 96 or 97 I bought my gem wagon for 3-4k can't remember exactly now. Was my first car.. What a ripper.. Or rip off depends how you look at it.

@SPArKy_Dave will find this interesting,  firstly because there's mention of solar, secondly because they quote a year number of years of oil/fuel .. (aka get the XG going before you have to convert it to electric)

Having basic solar and still being connected to the Grid, definitely makes financial sense - roughly 5yrs payback time.

Adding batteries to create a hybrid or off-grid system, is mainly about sticking it to the man.

Batteries give you backup power if the power grid is unreliable.

If one has savings to invest then yes, Batteries can make financial sense,

but not if you're taking out a loan.

And yes... take me back to the mid-80's/90's.

Less people, less traffic, less shops, simpler times.

AND THE EF FALCON WAS THE BEST SELLING CAR

Technically I'd say there were more shops then, just smaller and more choice from the little mom&pop operations that have since been shut down by big Corp. The spaces have since been filled with Asian/ethnic run El cheapo shops etc which are again being priced out by big Corp like Kmart etc

I am working as well and also loving those Sunday penalty rates!

Although I am sure the 70's would of been good, being a 78 model myself I only caught the last two years of it, so if we're going back in time, I'm going to go with what I know and go back to the mid 90's.

Then I'll head to Ireland and seek out my current wife instead of wasting time and money on the previous sow of a thing. Oh and of course buy the cars and property I should have or did (but this time I'll keep them) .

I've probably put too much time into thinking about this but you know you gotta be prepared hahaha

im a 90s baby, in fact born in 1990. but if i could go back, it would be the 70s...and start from there knowing what I know now :D

Buy a brand new Mk1 Escort, Twin Cam, buy a house, and be prepared for today.

wouldnt that be nice, having the knowledge we have today, then go back and start over with that knowledge

had a fork issue on My bike the other day.. . i was riding and went over a bump(aka did a wheelie and came down on the front wheel as usual)

forks jammed in the compressed position, but i didn't notice at the time. riding above 25kmh and it got speed wobbles, handlebars shaking as if the front wheel was loose(could have been the fork moving, not sure)

i bashed the cross over bar at the top, and it would not come undone, so sprayed it with CRC a few nights in a row and decided to ride it the next night and it popped back out eventually(2km ish)

currently torn between pulling them completely apart(may need to buy or make a tool for this) or just try screw it back in and hope for the best.. or buy new shocks. they've been sloppy for a few years.. but been ok generally.

@Panko probably has a few bike breakdowns over the year

So, if everyone bought an electric car tomorrow, went home and plugged it in, the Power station would burn twice as much fossil fuel as yesterday........?

Now Bear you know that's just not true... If they all bought electric cars and plugged them in, there'd be less than yesterday because the grids would meltdown and there'd be mass blackouts everywhere

Sorry to hear you're not feeling great. Glad you got through the cancer battle, that takes a strong will. If you can get through that you can overcome anything mate.

Unfortunately the link you put up there with your post doesn't work for me?

Hope you're feeling better soon.
