CHESTNUTXE 7,261 Posted October 5, 2020 i ran into this problem with my crossflow as i needed to fit a screw on clutch fan, then ended up swapping back to the non a/c waterpump that has no thread, and used thermo fan,if this is the problem you have,it sounds like it. Luke13 56 Posted October 5, 2020 Yea I needed a new pump and I am changing to thermal fan so I cut off the thread for the clutch fan but the bolts that hold the pulley to the pump are different thread so I can't put the pulley back on lol. I will run to the shop tomorrow and get a few different thread 5/16 bolts and hope one of them fits the flange to pulleySent from my Pixel 3 XL using Tapatalk
CHESTNUTXE 7,261 Posted October 5, 2020 yes xf onwards are different thread on the bolts i think ya need the clevo or xc xd type bolts, the short ones.
Mr Polson 10,214 Posted October 5, 2020 New pump should've came with new bolts. The original pumps have imperial threads for the belt pulley, replacement pumps have metric thread and should include new metric bolts.
Luke13 56 Posted October 5, 2020 No bolts came with it wish they did it would save me a lot of running around but it they are metric I would assume m8 just have to guess the thread 1 gerg reacted to this
gerg 10,871 Posted October 5, 2020 That rings a bell from the last time someone had this same problem on here. Looks like new pumps are metric, probably M8 x 1.25. The originals would have been 5/16" UNF if they were like clevos (and of the very few fine-thread bolts on the engine) Sent from my CPH1920 using Tapatalk 1 macman reacted to this
Luke13 56 Posted October 5, 2020 Thanks mate that's a size to start with
Mr Polson 10,214 Posted October 5, 2020 That's a Tru-Flow pump which is just reboxed GMB, shows bolts included. If I remember and have time at work tomorrow and if we have a xflow pump on the shelf I can check the bolt size 1 Luke13 reacted to this

macman 774 Posted October 8, 2020 Yep, been there recently also. Replacement water pump and the thread for the four small pulley bolts were different. Who'd have known, pretty frustrating at the time 1 Luke13 reacted to this
Luke13 56 Posted October 8, 2020 Yea Iol I was rather frustrated it stopped me putting in my T5 I had organised to use a mates hoist yesterday but couldn't drive the bloody thing there because of 4 little bolts I had to order them in it was the 5th different thread I tried lolSent from my Pixel 3 XL using Tapatalk 1 gerg reacted to this
