Geef 7 Posted October 1, 2020 Sorry if this has been covered before... Can the horn be relocated from engine bay to be out of sight (wheel arch, etc)? Are there any regulations dictating this?
gerg 10,871 Posted October 1, 2020 There is no stipulated requirement for a horn's sound output, other than it being a "audible warning device" and not being an alternating tone that mimics that of an emergency vehicle. You will most probably find that locating the horn anywhere at the front of the vehicle will be sufficient. Mounting it towards the ground will likely give best performance and prevent dirt and moisture buildup inside it.Sent from my CPH1920 using Tapatalk
2redrovers 21,389 Posted October 1, 2020 Sorry if this has been covered before... Can the horn be relocated from engine bay to be out of sight (wheel arch, etc)? Are there any regulations dictating this?A horn can be located anywhere as long as it functions properly, is loud enough and doesn't get fouled by dirt/water causing it to fail. A lot of cars have their horns located on the front side of the radiator support hidden behind the grill or bumper. Some are under the headlight assembly and some are under the front edge of the guard but safely behind a plastic liner.
