Panko 2,472 Posted May 31, 2019 ok i take that back. the product is cheaper, but its telling me the freight would be 261 pounds...which doesnt seem right, but maybe it is. https://www.burtonpower.com/gearbox-tunnel-round-edges-ford-escort-mk1-mk2-mp1026.html

I can make both of them, the straight one would be fairly simple. The one i linked seemed good value because it's made in 1.6mm which I'd have to piece together rather than fold it, 1.6 would make a difference to the stiffness of the floor big time. BGDAV 1,871 Posted May 31, 2019 try emailing them for a cheaper freight quote, i got a full 3" cowl from jegs for alot cheaper after emailing them 1 2redrovers reacted to this
BGDAV 1,871 Posted May 31, 2019 surely that tunnel isnt that hard to make ... its a few folds 1 2redrovers reacted to this
2redrovers 21,372 Posted May 31, 2019 surely that tunnel isnt that hard to make ... its a few folds Yeah the second one is pretty easy to copy. The first one I posted isn't a straight fold from front to back so it would take more cut and weld but definitely could make something similar.
2redrovers 21,372 Posted May 31, 2019 Easier to copyThe change in spine dimensions makes this harder to make by hand, but still doable 2 BGDAV and Thom reacted to this
2redrovers 21,372 Posted June 3, 2019 I haven't had a chance to do this properly in photochop but this was something I was playing with last night...It's a quick and dirty mock up done in an app on my phone, very limited on what I can do with it but it gives you an idea of what I'm leaning towards. Still not a fan of those bubble arches so they won't be on my van. I'm thinking more of a slight flare or pump like I did on Ron's torana hatch. 2 bear351c and deankxf reacted to this

2redrovers 21,372 Posted June 3, 2019 Did you get the for group invite i sent you on FB last night Rod?Yes mate, thanks. I'm not in a position to buy anything for a while but I'm sure it will be helpful when I'm ready for it
hendrixhc 10,918 Posted June 3, 2019 There was an escort van on there they were selling cuts on. 1 2redrovers reacted to this
2redrovers 21,372 Posted June 3, 2019 I saw that.. Looked pretty screwed for cuts in the same places as every other escort from what I could see. I can get the bits new that I really need to buy for it, rest I'll make as usual.
2redrovers 21,372 Posted June 5, 2019 Lo and behold, what do I spy on the way in today? A brand new dump truck of all things painted in the colours I'm thinking of 2 SPArKy_Dave and deankxf reacted to this
Seamus 645 Posted June 7, 2019 Saw this somewhere on the Interwebs the other day. But just read you don't like the bubble guards. Not sure about the lights on the front of this one either.Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk 1 2redrovers reacted to this

Yeah, rally spec spot lights are a wee bit over the top.
SPArKy_Dave 8,831 Posted June 7, 2019 The wheels, I really like though! edit - what about doing the van, in a rat-rod theme? satin black, widened red Lotus Cortina GT steel wheels/stock dog dish hub caps/whitewalls, and some cool 50's pinstriping and business logo writing on the sides in bronze/gold/silver? 1 Seamus reacted to this
2redrovers 21,372 Posted June 7, 2019 Dunno.. Nothing wrong with that per se but if I did it, that would be a temporary look.. Not sure if I could live with it and I probably wouldn't do red rims
hendrixhc 10,918 Posted June 7, 2019 I came across 2 Mk1 Cortinas this week. 1 was a 2 door GT with the roof chopped and the other a 440 sedan supposedly with a lotus engine. Both for sale 1 2redrovers reacted to this

2redrovers 21,372 Posted August 7, 2019 No updates other than its surprisingly not even full of random crap yet, you may have seen it in the background of the workshop thread guarding the door lol..But I just came across this photo of a mk1 sedan that I liked the look of.That's the kind of green I like and it looks good with the wide steels and caps. 2 deankxf and SPArKy_Dave reacted to this

Panko 2,472 Posted August 8, 2019 those wheels. every time i see another Mk1 with the wide steelies, makes me want to sell my RS wheels and buy some of these. 2 2redrovers and deankxf reacted to this
2redrovers 21,372 Posted August 8, 2019 I've always been green but depends on the colour, I'm very picky and even though green is probably my favourite colour I don't like a lot of them.I do like that steely look, it's modded but not in your face. Surprisingly the white rim works with the dark green.
