XF T5 Question

Recommended Posts

Edit: I just read that later T5s had a different extension housing that allowed a reverse syncro paired with 5th gear shift hub. However, this does not exclude non-reverse syncros boxes from being WC.

Anyway.... Back on topic:

The strongest factory T5 is what they call a T5Z. It has close ratios, bigger layshaft bearings, a couple of other upgrades (steel input shaft snout I think) that increase torque capacity to 330 foot pounds (about 440Nm) which would be right on the limit for a stroker Ford. Not as easy to adapt to an early body as the input shaft is longer and the shifter housing is in a different spot.
