bear351c 10,270 Posted September 25, 2018 Yes.! They are spring loaded to help with the weight on the up stroke. Use old car battery/power suppy to jog the motor to a position where you can see a couple of holes line up in the mechanism, then shove a big, fuckoff, Phillips head screwdriver in there. Before you undo all the 10mm bolts.

bear351c 10,270 Posted September 26, 2018 Shove a long rod, or Phillips head in one of those 2 big holes on the arched gear (top left) before you undo all the bolts on the geardrive, use an old battery or 12V to spin the motor, you'll see what I mean when you're doing it. The spring is VERY strong.! 1 dex reacted to this
dex 2,065 Posted September 26, 2018 Does it matter which one ,? Ie springs/swings one way in particular ,?
bear351c 10,270 Posted September 26, 2018 No, doesn't matter. You'll see when you remove the mechanism from the door. It's a coiled spring, like a tape measure, and one end will be bent around a pin. It's not enclosed, so you can see everything. It won't kill you.! but it will take the skin off your knuckles if you forget. 1 dex reacted to this
