well i would say its the rate of advancing is why,you need to bring more timing in quicker just depending on what dizzy you have, plus std diff gears is gunna be slow as well.

just give an exaple most people would say around 12 to 15 base timing but mine needs about 19 deg and total of 29 deg, which gives 10 deg advance ,all engines are different ,dont think a au std cam would be that big ,and 3.45 is heaps of gearing for that engine, that 30 deg base would be thru a ecu if correct, the dizzy you have is vac advance ?

Hey mate worked out I had the idle timing at 5 deg not 15 so move it to 18 deg and runs like a dream cheers for the help

hey i might just buy that nice au ltd engine ,i no for a fact it has only done 90,000km because i saw the car it came in,a mint LTD with a prang in the left front(probly repairable but too expensive for a insurance to fix,i have pictures of it somewhere here on oz falc, only thing i am concerned about is these gt 40p heads, lets say chuck it in a xf what headers do you need ,there is differance between normal 302 and gt40 heads some spark plug angle differance, maybe there is a trick .

The P on gt40p heads stands for plug angle, I originally had gt40p heads on my AU spec 5.0 in my XD, dummy fitted hurricane 4-1 headers and with 90 degree (from memory) spark plug boots it all cleared.

Yes a 302w dizzy drops straight in.

From memory the gt40p heads had 4 lines.

yeah 3 or 4 lines,ok so a dizzy is no prob, what about getting rid of the crank trigger thing and buying a 50 oz balancer to suit or does that stuff just unbolt,i was thinking just normal style pulley set up.

You can get a standard style 50oz balancer easy for them. Sounds like you are doing what I did.

If you go for a standard style pulley set up, you will have to consider the water pump as the efi motors run opposite rotation.

What accessories will you run?

why are you pulling it apart? are you planning to make any changes to it? if you want to use a larger cam you need to retrofit the e series dog bones as the plastic lifter guides have a limited amount of space for lifrt
