Single rail specsheet

Recommended Posts

While trawling the net for oil specs i found this part number/ratio sheet.

Someone might find it interesting.

Was a pdf so did a screenshot, if you get drunk and fall over it will make reading it easier9ee13892a9e5cff4167e26a3bda74c4e.jpg

A nice relic to come across, however these are the ones available aftermarket at the time (i came across this a few years ago) back in the 70s. There were a lot more OEM ratios available than these including Chrysler and P76. That list doesn't have the 3.47 1st gear one that my wagon originally came with, or ones that came out after this (like XF EFI)

I have read somewhere that even Commodores used them briefly when M21s were on the run out, although in the article these could have been mistaken for the shitty weak non-overdrive BW box.

I love single rails and I wish BW develloped a 5-speed version instead of importing the mediocre T5.

Good to know
Im looking forward to driving the old girl with the rail, shifter feels good as is... not that i pretended to mash gears after fitting the console lol

They're a very forgiving box, even years of clutchless shifting and mine eventually broke 2nd gear (not syncros) lol

Pinched (and edited) from Aust. Ford Forums:

XA-XB:

*250/302/351: 1st-2.82, 2nd-1.84, 3rd-1.32 & 4th-1.00

----------------

XC-XD:

*4.1/4.9: 1st=3.06:1 2nd=1.84:1 3rd=1.31:1 4th=1.00:1 rev=3.04:1

*5.8: 1st=2.46:1 2nd=1.78:1 3rd=1.27:1 4th=1.00:1 rev=2.70:1

----------------

XF:

*Carby: 1st-3.43 2nd-1.99 3rd-1.43 4th-1.00 rev-3.29

*EFI: 1st-3.50 2nd-1.99 3rd-1.32 4th-1.00 rev-3.47

Couldn't find XE specs but I'd assume that XF ratios apply to 6 cyls and XD ratios to each V8 type accordingly.

EDIT: XE EFI used 302 ratios.

The 3.3 in the XE-XF used the notorious "sigma" 5-speed box so is not a 0503 single rail. Some also had a 4-speed version of this box with exactly the same ratios without 5th, but not sure of the application.
