92 CROSSFLOW REBUILD

with 2.77 diff and auto it took off like a rocket.. would have been fine with a taller diff ratio.

made 99.8RWKW on LPG, at 4000rpm.. would pull to 4500 but didn't have much up there.  ideal tow engine if you wanted a 6, used as much lpg as a 351 though.. (but went as good as a good stock one..)

What torque did it make?
It's all in the torque... :P

Are you feeling the x-series crossflow love enough yet, to get another one?

I’m waiting for them to bring out a digital tyre lever gauge emoji23.pngemoji23.pngemoji23.png

It’s amazing what you can learn from the old blokes if you just shut your mouth and listen.
A mate of mine is mad for minis, the real ones. They only have 3 mains caps compared to newer 4 cylinders with 5 therefore they are susceptible to crankshaft whip and cracking. The old school trick is to have a bigger clearance thrust bearing on the bottom compared to the top. I guess they know, considering they spin them to 10,500 rpm and they stay together!

Craig Smith builds all his race engines this way. His engines have actually won Bathurst a few times so may know what he's on about.

i ran a vf marloo the other day in my basic turbo xflow corty and left him for dead both times. At the next set of lights he ask's whats in it? i reply just a turbo 6 and he looked at me stupidly waiting for me to say barra. Then said yeah but what. I said just an XF motor. Ha Ha the look on his face was priceless

made MORE torque than the lexus V8 until 2000rpm.. then.. less to 4000, then a lot less to 6200
i had wondered if i could buy the crossflow back and then find something to put it in.. like an XR ute.. would be cheaper than a lexus conversion that i'd prefer...
the lexus V8 is the perfect engine for a falcon if you ask me(if the budget was $10k).. light as the xflow.. sounds better.. similar fuel economy

i'm fairly sure there is a holley adapter for it(there is.. but a manifold to suit would be better? and probably cheaper?) https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/ADM-XF-XE-WEBER-STUD-PATTERN-CARBURETTOR-TO-HOLLEY-350-2BBL-CARBY-ADAPTOR-PLATE-/161802394047

there are some on gumtree.. this one might be same upside down? https://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/toowoomba/engine-engine-parts-transmission/34-adm-webbers-and-adapter-plate/1164621838

I was wondering why you wanted a Holley. There is a really good thread somewhere on this forum on how to get the Weber carb to flow better and what the biggest restrictions were.

i just always wanted that little 350 with a small or std cam, plan is with this engine is too just have a back up engine for the ute and/or if i sell it down the track i can put the matching numbers block back in it,as the holley will line up with the current throttle and air cleaner set up i hope.

its not too late to put a very mild cam in it,as i have a little crissmas spending money left, the stock cam is low 400 lift,i was thinking a stage 1 efi cam which is a tad bigger or 477 lift ,precision do a cheap hyd for $203 ,or tow cam ? just something better than std.
