CHESTNUTXE 7,261 Posted December 4, 2017 With a few hours spare this afo i started to strip down the 92 crossy that came out of my ute, when i bought it i new it had a welsh plug leak from the back but i thought it was on the side not the rear of the engine ,what a mess ,i guess this thing is gunna need a budget rebuild, check the milkshake on the rear of the engine yuk 1 Valvebouncer reacted to this
CHESTNUTXE 7,261 Posted December 4, 2017 this would be the last of the crossflow's,head has a D on it,not sure about the chambers but we will see. 1 Valvebouncer reacted to this
CHESTNUTXE 7,261 Posted December 4, 2017 This is how far i got this afo ,tomorrow i will put it on the stand and strip the rest, just gunna do a kerosine rebuild, new rings n bearings, ect.but first will check the bore tomorrow. 1 Valvebouncer reacted to this
deankxf 20,233 Posted December 4, 2017 how much slop in the timing chain? did it rub on the timing case? if so, will have a decent bore ridge probably 1 CHESTNUTXE reacted to this
CHESTNUTXE 7,261 Posted December 4, 2017 plenty slack in the chain, but everyone i have stripped down is like that.
Valvebouncer 2,389 Posted December 4, 2017 Nice one. What car will this go in? 1 CHESTNUTXE reacted to this
CHESTNUTXE 7,261 Posted December 4, 2017 might just re ring it as its matching numbers to the ute,if i ever take my good engine out to sell the car ect,,, 1 Valvebouncer reacted to this
CHESTNUTXE 7,261 Posted December 5, 2017 i had to take the cam out to punch out the cam tunnel plug, very interesting to put the first lifter back in from underneath as the head is still on.
CHESTNUTXE 7,261 Posted December 5, 2017 i kept the pushrods and lifters in order, all seem in gc cam also,i think i might just repair the welsh plugs and be done with it ,as there is no water in the oil. 1 Valvebouncer reacted to this
Valvebouncer 2,389 Posted December 5, 2017 Why not, save yourself some money. The good old crossflow! They go forever.
CHESTNUTXE 7,261 Posted December 5, 2017 exactly ,plugs look good and i no when it was running it wasnt smokey and was smooth, just that water leak from the block, anyway by the end off the day mucking around i put the engine back togther and gave a light de grease and 1 crossy ready for action ! 1 Valvebouncer reacted to this

CHESTNUTXE 7,261 Posted December 5, 2017 side of block the same, you can see the dripping marks on the block,i would say this will be the 3rd set of plugs put in this engine.
LJDB 103 Posted December 5, 2017 Any pics of the d Chamber? 1 CHESTNUTXE reacted to this
CHESTNUTXE 7,261 Posted December 5, 2017 nah i was gunna strip it down but changed my mind as it only is a back up engine that needed welsh plugs, sorry but if i do i will post pics because im interested as well i reckonit will have very small closed chambers cause the pistons used on these later crossys were about 29cc dish
matt_lamb_160 252 Posted December 5, 2017 There are pictures of the D head around somewhere  (maybe 9n the other forum). The D is a slightly modified C2 (although I have never had one). 1 CHESTNUTXE reacted to this

Valvebouncer 2,389 Posted December 6, 2017 Found it:Interesting. It looks like that point in between the valves could form a hot spot though. 1 CHESTNUTXE reacted to this
matt_lamb_160 252 Posted December 6, 2017 Less so than a C2 which goes to a sharp point...

matt_lamb_160 252 Posted December 6, 2017 According to the thread the picture is from they are 48cc. I would've expected them to be closer to the 42cc of the C2 head too. 1 CHESTNUTXE reacted to this
CHESTNUTXE 7,261 Posted December 6, 2017 are these heads any good for hotting up
matt_lamb_160 252 Posted December 7, 2017 No send it to me and I will take it off of your hands for free... ... Yes I would say they are as good a start as any for hotting up. 2 Valvebouncer and CHESTNUTXE reacted to this
