Hi guys,

who would be keen to do an end of year club cruise?
after my recent cruise up to Sugarloaf Reservoir with RSOCV in the Escort, it is the perfect place to spend a nice sunny day, overlooking the dam, and the surround hills.

Alright, for those who are interested in doing an end of year/christmas run, this is the route i am proposing.

The plan is to do a BBQ lunch up there. I believe there is electric BBQs up there, but I will need to confirm that. When I was up there recently with RSOCV, one of the members towed a BBQ trailer up, but that was more to cater for the number of people attending.
Plenty of shelter out of the sun and picnic tables and chairs, and plenty of parking (on the grass up over a roll gutter)

BYO meat and drinks is probably the best option due to uncertainty of numbers to attend.

DATE: Saturday 9/12/17

Meet time: 10:00am for 10:45am departure

Meet point: BP EastLink Southbound (can enter via industrial estate leading off Ferntree Gully Rd so no need for tolls)

The basic route is to leave BP EastLink, jump onto FTG Rd to Mt Dandenong Tourist Rd, up over Mt Dandenong to Montrose, to Lilydale, onto Yarra Glen via Coldstream, then onto the Sugarloaf Reservoir reserve.
There will be some fantastic driving roads, especially out the back of Yarra Glen, but obviously we need to stick to road rules, and being christmas time there is now doubt there will be plenty of VicPol out to enforce the law.

*UPDATE*

Unfortunately it turns out that Sugarloaf Reserve does not have BBQ facilities any longer. I got in touch with Parks Vic and the picnic ground does not have BBQs.

So our options are BYO picnic lunch, or head back into Yarra Glen to the pub. Depending on numbers I may need to book the pub.

IF you are interested coming along, please comment if you'd rather go the pub in Yarra Glen or BYO lunch to the reserve.

Yes we could do that.

I personally dont have a BBQ that will fit in the boot of the escort

Ok guys dont forget about this. 11 days to go.

Now we need to do a quick vote on lunch.

Due to the reserve no longer having BBQs, we can either;

BYO lunch

BYO BBQ (if someone has a portable one) or

Pub in Yarra Glen, about 10-15 minutes down from the reserve.

If youre coming please let us kmow what you'd like to do for lunch
