xfish 20 Posted August 5, 2017 Hey guys I'm pretty certain that my heater core is leaking in my el xr8 ( 10/98 ), since every time i turn my heaters on, i notice a drop in the coolant level. I have a plan of doing a few things in the dash, so while I'm digging around in there, do i have to take the whole dash out to access the old heater core and replace it? xfish 20 Posted August 5, 2017 Another question....is the heater core from a xr8 the same as an xr6?
SLO247 1,713 Posted August 5, 2017 Yeah the dash needs to come out, as does the heater box. AC lines need to be disconnected too so you may want to have the refrigerant evacuated. You'll want an assistant to help lift it out and remount it without damage. The heater core is the same between 6 and 8 cylinder. It's actually the same from XF-AU. 1 Valvebouncer reacted to this
