Banno 479 Posted June 19, 2017 Can you replace umbrella valve stem seals on a alloy xflow unmarked cylinder head (xd/xe) with neoprene valve stem seals used on e-series heads? Or do the guides need replacing or machining to hold on?
gerg 10,871 Posted June 19, 2017 Clevos being a similar design need machining to accept press-on seals, so even taking into account the bronze guides, Crossies would need machining. A lot of head shops turn them down to suit common Jap size seals as there were none equivalent to start with.Sent from my CPH1607 using Tapatalk
Banno 479 Posted June 20, 2017 Yeah I thought that due to it having a camber on the guide. I have a C2 head with ford ef valve seals but that was recoed for them seals as well. But it seems from my gathering xflow bits- leaded heads were umbrella and unleaded late model heads came with e-series seals. As valves between them are 11/32 (8.7mm) stem width. Thanks for info. 1 gerg reacted to this
