What to look for when checking out a new motor?

If it's got the Yella Terras, and he has reciepts for all the head work done, go for it. Just tell him to keep the box.

motor looks like a good buy sounded pretty good, no matter what you buy your always going to do something to it to improve it or to your liking anyways

I've leant from real life bitter experience.... Please don't just go screwing this thing in and running it straight up. Pull it down, check everything, make sure it's clean, use decent gaskets. You can't trust other people's judgement or standard of work. Treat it as an assembled collection of parts, not a ready-to-run engine.

Nah, il be getting an engine stand and going through replacing all the stuff that's a pain to do once it's in the car.
This won't be a quick slap together by any means.
I now need to source a manual conversion kit, pull my old motor and paint the bay plus the new engine needs to change colour too.

suitable for replacing the worn out 3 speed  or single rail in your club reg cruiser you never thrash
ideal for replacing a broken one

they work, did you get a tailshaft or at least the yoke with it?

Nope, just as you see it. I'm not really interested in using it. Il track down a t5 conversion for it, they pop up fairly regularly.
