SPArKy_Dave 8,831 Posted February 27, 2017 I spoke to a bloke at a car show over the weekend with a XE gas research xflow turbo. Stock motor, only valve springs. XE mech ignition with redline manifold, Steam pipe runner turbo manifold and t66 turbo( looked ebay spec). Made a safe 180kw at the wheels. Told to upgrade his ignition and retune. In Victoria? That sounds like my mate Dave's (Pro250) XE Ghia. To him, crossflows are a disposable commodity - use it till it blows it up, then swap in another stock crossy. SPArKy_Dave 8,831 Posted February 27, 2017 180rwkw is nice but NA can make that quite easily, if you go Turbo you might as well aim for at least 300rwkw or just drop a cleveland in and enjoy It's the torque... Low rwkw, but truckloads of neck snapping torque. 1 CHESTNUTXE reacted to this
wagoon 2,429 Posted February 27, 2017 It's the torque... Low rwkw, but truckloads of neck snapping torque. Don't need a turbo on a crossy to have neck snapping torque, it's just one way to make power and torque with one heck of a versatile motor. When you can struggle for traction with between 1/2 and 3/4 throttle with 2.92 diff gears in full weight XE with a crossflow you know you have torque. Whether it's NA, turbo or supercharged I don't think it really matter when you have a tough crossy, you will have a neck snapping torque monster if you have done it right. 2 CHESTNUTXE and SPArKy_Dave reacted to this
XPT 673 Posted February 27, 2017 Turbo gas setups are quite specialised and the initial outlay for the components alone is quite expensive. If you already have factory efi, a turbo efi setup is cost effective, quite easy to put together and it's easy to find a tuner. 2 wagoon and gerg reacted to this

Yep carby can be done but efi is just easier and cheaper to do, even when stating to turn the boost up its easier when you have efi. 1 XPT reacted to this
CHESTNUTXE 7,260 Posted February 27, 2017 A xe -efi 4 speed car is hard to find, has the 3.06 first gear too
broken-wheel 659 Posted February 27, 2017 i like the taller gears in the gearbox and shorter diff, for the single rail the 3.27 diff is a good compromise, the 3.45 is tits with a mild crossy, a 300hp crossy with a small 4bbl single rail and 3.45 is a fucking weapon on the street, they are light, you can get them down to 1300 inc driver with a manual
CHESTNUTXE 7,260 Posted February 27, 2017 first take off with the t5 3.25 1st gear clevo and 2.92 rear was quite good in the current xe,its a xg box.i suppose it would suit a crossy too
LJDB 103 Posted February 27, 2017 The one at the show wasn't pro250 car ive seen that one. This one was bone stock, no plenum, no tfi with a 5 speed. nothing fancy just a clean street car. 1 SPArKy_Dave reacted to this
