Hey guys,

Mentioned that i was working on something other than a fleshlight, involving computers, but doesn't mean I'm opening a competitor to pornhub.

Exhibit A - for the price of a carton I picked up one of these

Ex telecom server switch cabinet.  Came with goodies like power points and enough copper phone wire to build the nbn.

So plan was hatched to gut the fucker

And as you can see I've added some box section and some wheels for it.

And using awesome skills of gases flux cored wire  (fucking hate that shit), added some framework to remount the original draws back into the unit.

Then added more draws - you'll note the power points.

Last one was kept as a single to provide some room for bigger items.

Fuck yeah the draws pull out too.

Next steps:

  1. Mount the top - going to use steel plate at either end with braces along the centre
  2. Put the original steel top back on
  3. Get stainless sheet top over that for awesome sexiness.
  4. Paint it.
  5. Mount bench grinder to one end and polishing wheel to the other
  6. Wire up power

This will then be the workbench for the shed in the front yard, so i have a bench i can pull out when working on the car.

Some nice lateral thinking there Lord Far Quad (literally).

Whenever I use my gasless MIG, I'm always looking straight above my head to see where the cocky shit came from. Still, I built an entire twin system for my wags with it so can't whinge too much.

Reminds me of a tradie I met who was using an old fridge on its side for his work bench.

I'm with you on the gasless mig wire, I recently returned my bottle to BOC thinking I shouldn't need it. Then I had to repair a guard, fuck me what a struggle.

well much of a sameness, being raped by boc or being raped by the job...

if you are welding outside you need gasless anyway..

clean metal helps a lot, and good wire(going to CIG branded from the crap mine came with was next level)

looks like paint(powdercoat) is visible near your welds, probably doesnt help when it burns off

Love your workbench mate, it's a great idea. I'm with Thom, tell B.O.C to get rooted and buy a bottle of gas outright and never pay rental again. Speedgas do "e" size bottles for about $450 to buy and you just do a swap and go exchange when it's empty for $150. It probably best suits the handyman that doesn't use much gas per year I believe. I've had my bottle for 18 months and wouldn't have used a third of the usable gas.
