xwroo 348 Posted August 11, 2016 Is there any physical size difference between the to engines? Will the roller engine slide straight in to replace the flat tap motor?
Thom 6,650 Posted August 11, 2016 Same bellhousing pattern same engine mounts same physical size, just make sure your harmonic balancer and flywheel/ flexplate match the engine as roller windsors use a 56ounce balance and early use a 46 ounce balance 1 xwroo reacted to this

judgetread 757 Posted August 11, 2016 few things to keep in mind.. The roller may not have a fuel pump cam installed, and even may not have the slot in the timing cover for the mech fuel pump. Depending on the setup, water pump rotation could be a issue so make sure you get the all sorted too.. Unless its a retro fit roller 1 xwroo reacted to this

xwroo 348 Posted August 11, 2016 It wouldn't bother me if I had to run an electric fuel pump. But what's this about the water pump rotation? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
gerg 10,871 Posted August 11, 2016 Later 5.0s use a serpentine belt which in this case drives the water pump off the back of the belt spinning it backwards when compared to the v-belt setup.

One thing that all these 5.0 serpentine examples have in common is water pump rotation
NZXD 2,328 Posted August 11, 2016 I have a roller motor that has been converted to carb and has mechanical pump, it's all easy to do, just have to source all the bits.
