Thought I'd start a thread for what I'm up to at the moment.

This is my daily driver 1996 EF gli 6cyl auto, it got traded in at work by an old bloke who's had it since new my 95 Fairmont at the time had bent a rod and some ass holes keyed it. Anyway I snapped up the EF quick smart before the whole saler come and grabbed it had 196,000km on it. All I've done so far is swapped a few bits from my old Fairmont and put a set of wheels on it. I've nearly finished the EL XR lip kit for it and if all goes to plan it'll have a 4.11 LSD soon.

Has King springs super lows front ultra low rears, 17X8s front and 17X9s rear with 275s, extractors and a 2.5" system and basic stereo.

Trying the front lip on after fiber glassing it back together of course it called for a side skirt to be tried aswell. All repairs are done now it's awaiting primer.

Trans is in need of replacement again first trans would keep losing all gears at the worst times like peak hour on the Tasman bridge. I had bought a au motor and trans for the previous Fairmont before this popped up so me and my brother in law swapped it over, the trans that was apparently so good was far from it I've put up with it for a fair while and it's gradually getting worse. Anyway I was on Facebook one day and a couple popped up ended up getting the 2 cars for $200 and some alloys I didn't want.

This is what a Peugeot does to an EL Falcon I saw the Peugeot that did it was bugger all damage to it - trans was perfect.

And the other car that was thrown in

1995 EF Fairmont some kids tried to steal it so it wasn't running and owners before the bloke I got it off had dogs living in it so was pretty nasty. So far I've swapped the barrel over let smart lock relearn and got it running runs pretty good, fixed the head light issue. Now I chucked everything from the inside of that car to the tip bar dash pad I cleaned the dash and floor pan I kept all the interior from the EL. It had leather/velour seats chrome door handles leather wheel and hand brake and he chucked in some ghia door trims. Interiors going back in late next week after that it will go to my parents house for some paint touch up after that I'll decide what I'll do with it.

Score!! :)

Love the white EF, looks tops.

The grey Fairmont looks good to.

I wouldn't mind being the owner of a nice clean white EF Falcon/Fairmont

Cheers mate it's the whole reason I bought it needs a buff but I'll do that after the kits done as I'll tidy the bumpers up when I paint the kit (typical scrapes).

Grey Fairmont isn't to bad I need to spray a section of the rear left door, bumpers, and the clear is peeling on boot and right 1/4 so I'll respray them colour code mirrors and buff it should look pretty decent after that. Front left gaurd has a big dent but the one on the EL was smick so I've got that stored to be swapped over.

They aren't a bad car and you can pick them up pretty cheap I got the white one for $700 with a few months rego, I'll try find photos of when I got it had a interesting pinstripe.

This is before I put the superlows in the front raising it an inch had pedders minus a coil from the previous Fairmont I swapped the rears in that car to ultras as I had them and it sat on a stupid angle (I can't find any photos of that one but it was artic blue and had been unloved paint was crap even after hours of clay barring and buffing).

A white EF is my pick of the E Series for looks. Simple and clean. Haven't seen a clean one here in ages though.

One of my first cars was a white EF Ghia with the grey leather/velour trim. That was nice.

Looks great, engine bay looks clean too.

Less fucking around with EFs and more ZH work would be good though.

They are a lot cheaper then the zh grey Fairmont wasn't planned I originally went to look at just the el but made it to tempting and it was to good to strip.

There's always little bits and pieces happening to the zh I just don't bother posting anything unless it's something decent.

An arrow for a pinstripe I can see why you took it off

I have a silver EL, the running gear is perfect the sill panels are shagged due to rust

Ive kept it because of the running gear. Its an eye sore but meh.

Yeah it was ugly lol

the smashed EL above was actually pretty rusty inner and outer sills, right dog leg, inside door jams and the floor pan had surface rust on it near the rear wheel tubs.

Bit of an update, the Fairmont has gone to a new home I got most of the little gremlins sorted out before it went. As for the white one we will be swapping the trans in a couple weeks also the 3.23 LSD is nearly ready to go in aswell (4.11s aren't happening got sick of being stuffed around). I also put a set of 19X8.5 speedy cheetahs on it and the kits nearly ready for paint all goes to plan I'll be painting it Saturday.

Brings back memories that does. Good mate of mine had a maroon auto ef gli going back a little over 15 years now when we were young's. Had the same ajr 17's 3.9 diff gears, cam, and full exhaust. Thing went hard for what it was back then, used to rip most v8's (i had a AU 5 speed v8 xls ute back then and it was a damn site quicker than mine), he still got a t4 turbo sitting in a cupboard down stair at his mums place that was going on it till his car salesman brother got him a deal to god to refuse on a few year old fully optioned low kay BA xr6 turbo... he's still got that one and now wants a el xr6 for a daily after being in my ed.

i like what you've don now too, with the wheels and kit. Swooyt mate!

I had one the same when I was 18, tickford motor, ported head, wade cam, extractors and a 2.5" exhaust at the diff, cold air intake 5sp manual it was surprisingly quick for what it was disappointed a few ss's and early wrx's.

I plan to convert this to manual one day and boost it maybe even a Barra swap but one project at a time for now I'm happy driving it everyday.

17s aren't ajr's they have a weird name I forget they are 2 piece 8's up front and 9's on the rear with 275's

Cheers mate, I have got the 17's back on it now got the 19s for sale, rounding up funds so I can move like I planned to last year.

Jeez they sure look like em. Centres, i'd say, are pretty much identical. I can see yours have a stepped lip though now i look closer, and a quick search of the ol' interweb for ajr's show they don't.
