xwroo 348 Posted February 15, 2016 I'm putting a later model borg warner diff (out of a xd) in my XW. What model falcon xd or similar have 28 spline axles? Cheers
MNTL.XD 3,831 Posted February 15, 2016 I think the limited slip disc brake diffs out of Fairmonts and Fairlanes have a 4 pinion centre and 28 spline axles. * Buy the diff with the rear hand brake cable and the rubber 'body to diff' brake hose with it. ** Also make sure it comes with rotors, calipers etc to save any headaches. *** XC onwards also have a larger wheel centre diameter so make sure your wheels have a 70mm centre (standard XW were 60mm) **** Check your diff ratio, you may also need to buy the speedo drive cog to suit for your speedo to read correctly. Cheers, Paul. (MNTL.XD) 1 xwroo reacted to this

Thom 6,642 Posted February 15, 2016 You are aware that the xd diff is wider than an xw one? 2 MNTL.XD and xwroo reacted to this
MNTL.XD 3,831 Posted February 15, 2016 Ah, knew i missed something. Thom is 100% correctomondo! Track width for XW is 1486mm Track width for XD is 1527mm 41mm the difference.
xwroo 348 Posted February 16, 2016 Yep very aware of the width difference. Still making up my mind on wheels, so there might be a chance I'm going to get it shorten. I brought a diff out of a xd, disc brakes, lsd, 2.92 ratio but looking to swap out the 25 spline 2 pinion lsd for a 28 spline setup.
