Ok so after a hard and stressful days work yesterday the truck now has

Pulleys

Belts

Thermo's back on

Power steering pump

Power steering box in - 1 bracket needs repair but that can wait :P

Lines hooked up and steering system topped up

Brake line bracket refitted

Column coupling done

Pitman arm done and front tyre back on

So the truck now steers!

I'll be fitting the rent-a-tailshaft this arvo and I (should) be able to go for a drive :)

Old vs new pitman arm. Old one was a falcon one that'd been resplined and sleeved to fit the 260c steering box and f truck drag link

The new (larger) one is what my truck should have had when power steering was fitted

It's marginally longer and built specifically for this era of effy downside is, $350 !!!

No. The steering box is out of ye ol Datsun 260c - only one tab needs to be added to fit it to an f truck

The pitman arm is a mutant with Datsun spline on one end and a taper on the other to fit the f truck drag link

It's the only way to make pre 80's effies power steering

have you set up the TV rod(or with a cable) on the AOD yet, it needs it for the shift points, otherwise goes straight to top gear.(the kickdown looking lever\rod)i had a prick of a time setting one up on My XE about 15years ago, didnt get the correct rod or have a clue on where to get the carby side from

Throttle Valve cable? If it's not set right it won't shift out of first

Mines roughly set til I can afford the kit from lokar

maybe with it removed it goes straight to top, cant remember but yeah, at least you know about it.
