gerg 10,871 Posted November 24, 2015 Will be interested to see how the AOD goes, not very common in Aus but a good, easy upgrade for an old-school machine. 1 Dyllan187 reacted to this

Dyllan187 324 Posted November 25, 2015 I'm glad I went with the AOD after seeing how it goes as a manual it'll need the extra gear over a regular 3 speed C6 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 1 gerg reacted to this

Dyllan187 324 Posted December 25, 2015 The AOD Toploader out AOD in - had to get my tailshaft shortened by approx 200mm I can't remember now Shifter in and 'air con' sitting in place Trans cooler squashed in behind the grille Old vs new pitman arm. Old one was a falcon one that'd been resplined and sleeved to fit the 260c steering box and f truck drag link The new (larger) one is what my truck should have had when power steering was fitted It's marginally longer and built specifically for this era of effy downside is, $350 !!! deankxf 20,231 Posted December 25, 2015 whats the go with the steering box, is the 260c one going to accept the 100 pitman arm....sounds like a custom mod
Dyllan187 324 Posted December 25, 2015 No. The steering box is out of ye ol Datsun 260c - only one tab needs to be added to fit it to an f truck The pitman arm is a mutant with Datsun spline on one end and a taper on the other to fit the f truck drag link It's the only way to make pre 80's effies power steering 2 Demmo and deankxf reacted to this
deankxf 20,231 Posted December 25, 2015 have you set up the TV rod(or with a cable) on the AOD yet, it needs it for the shift points, otherwise goes straight to top gear.(the kickdown looking lever\rod)i had a prick of a time setting one up on My XE about 15years ago, didnt get the correct rod or have a clue on where to get the carby side from
