Crazy2287 1,886 Posted March 29, 2013 Hello there, Making this as sort of a news spot for Megasquirt ECU related things. Try to keep the off topic questions out of here, If you need help with your megasquirt or choosing a setup make a new thread and i'll come over there and help, if you don't get a reply withing a day PM me with the link to make sure i find it. I'll start with: I'm interested in very soon purchasing a RS232 to bluetooth adapter. For those in the loop it's been about for a while, but the big thing on this front at the moment is there is finally some reliable dashboard software to interface the Megasquirt with an android powered Tablet (slate PC) or mobile phone (such as galaxy S3) Wireless, 100m range and awesome. The hardware required can be purchased pre-configured so it's basically plug and play. and im interested in purchasing some of these units asap. After expressions of interest. Organize a bulk buy right here for people interested. it will work out between $60 and $70 bucks inc postage for the RS232-bluetooth adapter. the software is +$10 from the android play store (but there is a free trial) I'll be between Brisbane, Canberra and Sydney over the next few weeks so logistics for those areas is sorted. n00bus m@x1mus 465 Posted March 29, 2013 Can we some how sort out a dropbox thingo so we can swap tunes and stuff or even just to compare how each other sets them up?. I'm just about to start mine up in the next couple weeks but I don't have any tunes to start out on. I do have one loaded in there but it was for a turboed crossie with a lot of different hardware. Crazy2287 1,886 Posted March 29, 2013 Clint, PM me your skype or msn if you want some advice.<br /><br />Tried to set up a dropbox but you need to install it on your PC, Would prefer web based upload/download and browsing.<br />Google docs might work? Not really necessary anyway. All engines are different so your going to have to tune it, no way around it. Be driving it within a few hours anyway <img data-cke-saved-src="http://www.ozfalcon.com.au/public/style_emoticons/default/wink.png" src="http://www.ozfalcon.com.au/public/style_emoticons/default/wink.png" class="bbc_emoticon" title=";)" /> Just don't get ahead of yourself<br />
BoostedXD 14 Posted March 30, 2013 Crazy, you ever looked into this option? http://m.rx7club.com/showthread.php?t=975008 http://www.msextra.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=122&t=43883&start=20 I have bought the adaptor from Hong Kong for $7 delivered, just need to configure it and give it a go using the android shadow logger
Crazy2287 1,886 Posted March 30, 2013 Yes actually, I was looking at these, got one in the post: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Bluetooth-to-RS232-TTL-serial-Converter-Module-LED-Adapter-Daughter-Board-/200814932551?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_15&hash=item2ec180b247&_uhb=1#ht_5175wt_1168 Did not want to post as it's not a "plug and play" solution. It's class 2, so less range. and also requires some nous, still not sure on how successful i will be. Response is apparently slower too. Did not want to recommend this avenue till i had tested and confirmed it's worth it/workable.
BoostedXD 14 Posted March 30, 2013 Yeah good call, I've had mine on the shelf for a few months waiting for a chance to set it up... If you get it working OK, let us know anyway
n00bus m@x1mus 465 Posted August 14, 2013 Just found this mate.. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/LDPerformance-Bluetooth-RS232-adapter-for-megasquirt-MSdroid-/321174751038?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item4ac781c73e Would make short work of it all. Im thinking of getting one just for the sake of not having to pull my trims off and carry a serial cable around in the glove box.
Wes 214 Posted August 14, 2013 You can fit the squirt up into the glovebox up high with the port pointing out or a serial extention wired up and routed around. Cables are tougher lol. When cunts open your box you can say "tuned motherfuckers". With a bluetooth, pfft, cunts will think you're looking up porn lol 2 Crazy2287 and n00bus m@x1mus reacted to this
n00bus m@x1mus 465 Posted August 14, 2013 But you can fiddle with this from your smartphone!!!! LOL
'Nova 997 Posted August 14, 2013 Just FYI Wes, I look up porn without wifi
Crazy2287 1,886 Posted August 14, 2013 Plug n play makes stuff eazy Nova that for sure. Just wanted to see if i could do it with a $8 adapter. Apparently you can, it can interface before the rs232 dac on the MS mainboard. But i haven't had time to config my bluetooth and set it all up to see if i can get it working. Would still use cable for any serious tuning. bluetooth just be for dashboard and tweaking. But i do like where your going. straight serial to serial has rustic charm and oldschool reliability. n00bus m@x1mus 465 Posted August 14, 2013 I just want to pop my phone into the cradle and hit the MSdroid app and have the dash board in HUD. plus if anyhting a miss you can just hit the datalog button and log all the way home. Then open up tunerstudio and see what was going on from there. Means you can find out whats going on or even tune at any time as long as you have your phone in your pocket. For $65 its worth having imo.
Wes 214 Posted August 15, 2013 Fark that. I'm gonna araldite an old Lenovo onto my dashboard.... really go for the rustic look lool
n00bus m@x1mus 465 Posted August 15, 2013 Hahaha... why bother with that, just wire up an old telecom operator panel and screw it down where the passanger seat used to be and keep a headset in the glovebox..... learn to read the pips and your set who needs guages. i reckon if you made up some patch cables and kept them in the glovebox you could be creative and even tune on the fly too
Crazy2287 1,886 Posted May 8, 2017 Thread mine. Yes, that's right. I'm slow, lazy and I procrastinate. I got this sorted. And here is a walkthrough: http://www.msextra.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=65858
