no brake lights

Recommended Posts

hey all

this has prob been covered before but thought i'd ask

driving the xf the other day and got told had no brake lights

got to a servo checked fuse - all ok

got to my mates shop (around the corner from servo) checked globes - all ok

have got parkers etc etc no brake lights

checked the brake light switch and have power going in and power out when pedal pressed

i havent got the trip computer connected, will this cause the lights not to work?

any info would be helpful

cheers

I believe the brake light circuit runs through the trip computer. Solved the problem by bridging two of the terminals in the plug that once went into the trip computer when I removed it.

Hope that helps :).

Nah I don't. Whichever terminal has power feed on/off with your foot on/off the brake bridged to whichever other terminal turns your lights on (foot on brake of course)should do it. So it's a two person job.

George it's because your trip comp is unplugged and the power gets directed through it for the blown globe warning, as mentioned by others you need to bridge the two green/red wires at the trip computer connector and it should fix your problem.

all fixed guys, cheers for the pointers

plugged the trip computer back up and all good

i've had it disconnected for over 2 years, surely all the times i've driven it since i had it unplugged someone would of told me the lights weren't working
