griffo74 1 Posted June 23, 2014 Can anyone help identify a v8 tacho dash for an xd falcon. No part number sticker is on the back iof dash. Failing installing the dash is there any way if telling whether it is from a 6 or 8?
Trev Vaa 1,185 Posted June 23, 2014 i know the older dashs have either 6 or 8 written on the face of the tacho down the bottom. dunno if XDEF is the same

gerg 10,871 Posted June 23, 2014 I managed to trim my 6 cyl tacho to V8 calibration by using the trimpot on the back of it. Turned out to be only 50 rpm out at 3000... Not a bad guess. Checked against my MSD laptop readout. Mine's an XE 2 xe1984 and steve mcqueen reacted to this
Anthony Pllu 262 Posted June 24, 2014 my FD 6 cyl has a 6 on the back never checked the v8 one. check yours if the sticker is still there

Mr Polson 10,214 Posted June 25, 2014 I have heard (don't know if its true) that the V8 dashes had the redline begin higher than 6 ones?

Easily changed with 2 mini Philips head screws holding the face on. Otherwise you can just re-colour it or ignore it like I do
griffo74 1 Posted July 2, 2014 There is a VDO sticker on the back of the tacho that reads 8. But the front facia has yellow paint at 4800 not 5200. 1 blownxd393 reacted to this

Regiee 0 Posted August 13, 2017 My xd tacho has 3 screws on back that look like they hold it together and two that are recessed . Which ones do you adjust . Using a 6cyl dash cluster with v8

Using a 6cyl dash cluster with v8The trim pot sits sideways and needs the speedo to be removed to access it. I ran the engine with the cluster plugged in minus speedo and adjusted from an indicated 2000 down to 1500.Sent from my CPH1607 using Tapatalk
