ando76 4,354 Posted July 19, 2014 If its stutter stutter stutter then take off it could be overfueling. If it is a big hesitation then it takes off I'd be saying underfueling. Very difficult to diagnose via keyboard as it could be plug condition, timing or fuel. all need to be checked - process of elimination. 1 SatansReverence reacted to this
SatansReverence 264 Posted July 20, 2014 Plugs are near new but somewhat black. Timing is at 10 degrees Fuel situation is the most unknown. But it is more like over fuel instead of under fueling. it's like getting thrown through the windscreen, then the back window, then the windscreen etc and than it takes off. Might check the jet size and get a smaller squirt nozzle for it. I'll need a new fuel bowl gasket before I check jets won't I?
ando76 4,354 Posted July 20, 2014 Unless it is fitted with re-usable bowl and metering block gaskets yeah you will need gaskets. My advice is to get a set of re-usable ones whilst you are trying to get on top of this issue. possibly a fuel pump issue as well but again hard to diagnose from here. 1 SatansReverence reacted to this
gerg 10,871 Posted July 20, 2014 Blue gasket = re-usable, brown gasket = crappy fall-apart gooey cork thing 1 SatansReverence reacted to this
ando76 4,354 Posted July 20, 2014 Yeah genuine Holley are blue but I have seen some red and even black re-useable ones. I always throw a couple in when I do a summit order - its amazing how many 'race' holley's that don't have them. 1 SatansReverence reacted to this

Thom 6,650 Posted July 21, 2014 Have you thought of fitting a fuel pressure reg? No amount of adjusting the float levels will change anything if the fuel pump is pushing fuel past the needle and seat 1 SatansReverence reacted to this
SatansReverence 264 Posted July 21, 2014 Would a standard fuel pump even do that?
ando76 4,354 Posted July 21, 2014 I doubt it would push past the needle and seat being a standard pump - more like run out of fuel but the problem sounds like over fuelling to me, but I am miles away. 1 SatansReverence reacted to this
