Didn't tempe tyres buy them out? Or was that just rumour? Have also heard they aren't really to the same quality. Again might just be rumour.

Nearly 1 k a rim I heard.

I didn't watch the vid, but I thought Tempe are doing the fr's and one other style, and the rest of the tooling/rights were sold to some other wheel shop, that specialises in retro style wheels?

I have herd that the quality isn't the same from the original rims, they are made in China and put together by Tempe.

A friend of mine bought some 20inch FR's for his turbo BF ute, wasn't happy he sold the rims still brand new unused.

Funny how the video shows, in dramatic fashion, the wheels being assembled in-house, which would lead you to believe that they're cast here too. What a shame. For the money, I'd certainly want them to be.

Iirc in the last few years of Simmons before the old guy retired they were actually importing a lot, they werent the 'Aussie made' icon they made out to be. At least not at the end.

$1k a rim is a joke IMO no matter what brand they are there's so many rims on the market these days I mean who'd spend $6k for tyres and rims for say some prick to steal them or you damage them when for $2k you could have the lot and still have a mean looking car on wicked rims, I once thought of simmons for mine then I went to HO falcons and a few other places they were like above $1k+ a rim I thought stuff this so I just bought a full set of reconditioned snowflakes that are in charcoal, chrome centres with postage $87 a rim yes they are only 15x7s but I can get a 235 tyre on the arse end lowered to the max with a fake drop tank and I bet it will look just as good as any rim just my 2c but hey it's personal pref I guess

Top class tyres are making a rip off version in a 1 piece. Look the same and have a higher load rating apparently. Only in fixed offsets and sizing, so for xfalcs you would prob need spacers. $2500 with tyres.

I always wanted Simmons before Tempe had them. Now I'd prob go a billet instead. 12-13 inches wide please!

Lol at comparing quality three piece rims, available in whatever offset and size you want, to some stock 1980s alloys...

Jamie.... you can't be serious. As Defective pointed out, there is no comparison between a built to order wheel in 2 or three piece and a piece of alloy junk. Sure, they're not for everyone but to call them a joke is not correct. 2k may not get you the look you're after. Thank God the serious car builders don't shun their cars in 12 slotters any more.

wasn't comparing just stating that I wouldn't pay $1k a rim and that if you where looking at rims for less $ you can get a good look for half the price and for my project i'll stay to keeping it stock and using the snowflakes as I said it's personal pref

i just think you can get a similar look without making simmons the top dog in wheels $ wise for the quality not like they used to be
