deankxf 20,741 Posted June 1, 2013 any crossflows sounding like that? if i ever finish my transit van, wouldnt mind doing a true dual system if they can sound as good as that XP ute
robbie 901 Posted June 1, 2013 Was wondering the same thing Dean.. Definitely do it to the transit, would sound great.
slydog 7,873 Posted June 1, 2013 No the port layout of the 2v makes that noise possible but a x-flow is different. You could change the pipes to suit but it would be a bit of work for no gain bar a V8 noise at idle. That said I'm going to a twin 2.5 on mine but after a single 3.5" merge collector and twin 2.5 merge collectors so not a true twin in these terms but mines not about the tail pipe noise. Is it doable though...yes P.S that is so not near 7000rpm it's not funny.
gerg 10,875 Posted June 1, 2013 Yep Slydog is spot-on. The early non-crossflows had some goofy 2-branch exhaust manifolds, where there would be uneven pulses between them, giving that V-8 gurgle you hear. Not great for horsepower but sound tits. Here's an example where 1-5-3 and 2-4-6 are grouped to give that rumble: http://m260.photobucket.com/albumview/albums/VanillaEscalona/GetAttachment.jpg.html?o=
