CHESTNUTXE 7,694 Posted May 27 This has been bugging me for years i always thought the 0575 gears suited older falcons but once i had a 1996 xg ute that had a lsd 3.45 diff and after i inspected it ,it had 0575 on the gearset,is it because it was a leaf spring fittment ? a EF sedan of the same year would have had the 0578 gears n housing,gets confusing,i started to notice this in xe model where the sedan diff cover says 0578 but it runs 0575 gears ? i have pulled about 20 b/w diffs apart and always get a surprise somewhere,ATM im pulling apart a 1989 xf ute diff original to the car as far as i no and first surprise is the 82da tag on it ? i thought it should have had a 88da tag as its in the EA era ,i also have another late 91 xf ute 2.92 diff and it has a 88da tag but all have the 0575 gearset ,maybe the changeover to 0578 was in EB2 ? Rod Racer 404 Posted May 27 075 / M75 gears sets have a 7.5" ring gear diameter, 078/M78 is 7 3/4" dia. They are NOT interchangeable and have different carriers to match.
