XD Tacho wiring

Hey all, I've got an XD was 250 but converted to 351c, trying to sort the tacho wiring, everything seems to point to pink and blue wire to the coil negative, but the pink and blue wire is on the coil positive. does that seem right.  Engine is from 77 Fairlane but has electronic ignition, not sure if that's original or has been grafted in somehow.  the whole engine and trans wiring job is pretty average, not sure what's been hacked and what hasn't.

Think its white/green trace....?   Neg side of the coil.

Usually the pink/blue to negative

Base model may not have the wire either. I had to run one in My Dad's XE when I fitted an s pack cluster. Negative coil and I may have joined a wire to the cluster for it even(not in the socket for cluster either)

Thanks all, will the engine run if the coils wire arse about, seem to remember from trade school that of would but that was a long time ago, memory is a bit foggy now.  It's a six cylinder tacho so I think it might have been original, tried the trimpot  and other methods mentioned on here to change from 6 cyl to 8 but still doesn't work. Just trying to decide it it's a wiring issue or the tach. Guess I could always run a wire from the coil neg straight to the tacho and find out that way.

Pretty sure they do run like this. But not sure if there's any issues from it?

Have seen them run with coil wires reversed
