Where is the temp sensor on an au series 3?

Recommended Posts

Recently got an au series 3 and the temp gauge is completely dead (among a serious misfiring issue) I read that its between cyl 5 and 6 but cant see it anywhere. If anyone has tips or photos it would be much appreciated!

IIRC, there is a sender is in the right rear of the cylinder head. However, the temp sender (I think) is in the thermostat housing.

Replace the gasket between the intake manifold and cylinder head AND the injector O rings and the miss(es) should disappear. There is an edge on the injector ports that can/will cut the O rings, so be careful inserting the injectors into those holes. Ask me how I learned that( the hard way).

Thanks for the tips, Ill hook my smoke machine up to it to see if theres anything obvious but Ill probably do the gasket anyway as they like to fail. I have another au that runs good so I can play swaptronics, any parts I should look at first if the gasket looks good?

there's definitely a temp sender thing in the back of an AU head, (we broke it pulling an engine recently but.. it's going into an XG ute, so temp sender is in the thermostat housing for that setup, so no issue leaving it broken) is it the main one? barra looks similar location also if it's the only one.

Turns out the temp gauge itself was jammed

Well what happened was that I hit a bump and the plastic cover fell out, so I just reached in and unstuck it and now it works!
