  1. To be honest I couldn't tell you but the windsor's do leave a lot more room in the engine compared to the Cleveland's. To be on the safe side I'm going to leave the bonnet in hi-fill primer to I work out what I'm going to do. I'm not looking for massive power but bolt it on is easy power.

  2. Time has come in my XW build to rebuild the motor (302w). The plan has always been just a full rebuild  with all the basic aftermarket parts (carb, intake, cam, headers). I always had the intention on bolting on a weiand 174 supercharger in the future and I thought why not do it while the motor is pulled down. Have done a fair bit of research and going on what I have read a weiand 174 suits what I want it for, but just finding it hard to find info on what is the minimal or basic that has to be done to support the supercharger. Just got a few questions.

    - Has anyone had a personal had this combo and how did it go?

    - What in the minimal/basic I have to do to the motor to run the supercharger?

    -  What compression ratio will suit and how to achieve that ratio (head gaskets, pistons, etc)?

I'm not after a dyno killer or a 9sec street car, just something that has good low-mid range power and still very streetable.

Any help or advice is appreciate

  3. Xd diff/centre is a 2.92 ratio and the xy diff/centre is a 3.23. Can the diff gears be changed over? The reason behind this is I brought a xy borgy diff with 3.23 ratio got told it was in very good working order, took it home went to drop the oil out of it and not a drop. The lsd centre looks a bit ratty. I know the xd diff is a 0578 I can see the part number on the housing but the xy diff I cant find one only got the id tag.

  4. Hi all,

I'm getting a set of extractor for my XW which is a column shift auto. Now every website of all the brands I've looked say gear select linkage needs to be modified. Can everyone shed some light on the modification that needs to be done, is it straighting or bending of rods, or making a whole new linkage.

    Cheers

  5. Haha so change of direction, I spoke to the guys at Aussie diffs and the direction they suggested is cause I'm not using the car for burnouts or drag racing, is that I just stick with the diff that's in the xw now and put the lsd out of the xd diff on in the xw, shorten the diff if necessary and just run drum brakes for the time being.

  6. Yes . As sly says 2 " each side .  I have done an XW with 10" welds and 5.5 back space . at that the tyres were as close as you'd want to the springs . So with a 3.5" back space you'd need 2" off each side of the diff housing to end up with the wheels in the same spot . Any more i Think they'd be hitting the leafs ?

Taking 2" off each side, will that effect the spring mounting pads at all? Will I be able to take that much off the xd diff?

  7. Nah, sorry to confuse. A 10" rim with 5" backspace will have 5" dish. 1/2 the rim exposed at the back and 1/2 at the front, so it's central. If it has 4 1/2" backspace it will have 5 1/2" dish. If it has 4" backspace it will have 6" dish and so on.

    Ok thanks I'm following now.
