Hey mate worked out I had the idle timing at 5 deg not 15 so move it to 18 deg and runs like a dream cheers for the help

To set total timing with the vac disconnected? And at what sort of rpm?

Yer that correct the 30deg is efi and yer vac advance dizzy ill bump the dizzy to 18-19 and see how I go thanks for the info

Yer I thought It might need to be advanced I have read that the au 5.0 run a base timing of 30 degrees but wasn’t to sure. I using a proflow (ready to run) dizzy and diff gears are 3.45

Hey I’m looking for some help I have a xe Ghia whit a au3 5.0 converted to carb and have set the timing to 15 degrees. It feels very sluggish taking off. Does anyone know what the timing should be?

Yer temp is fine tested with second test temp gauge and still no change in fuel economy. The Ute might be up for sale soon as it's costing me to much to get to work and can't find the problem. Cheers

Hey mate it runs on the lower side as well around the "m" and "a" on the "normal" writing. Is the different temp sensors. I will let you all know how I go. Cheers

Hey yer I fill up at same servo every time. Dave there is no sign of transmission engine brake and is real sluggish taking off is there a way to check / test? it also slips or drops out of gear between 3rd and 4th I have to back off the throttle or it just revs and goes no where. Cheers

Yer done all that just changed IAT sensor and TPS. I'm currently doing a fuel economy test I have checked timing and triple checked codes and logs the running rich code. Cheers

Yer I was running cold all the time when I got it found the thermostat was stuck open I then changed the thermostat and flushed engine and put coolant it. Temp runs about half on the gauge since i changed thermostat and coolant.

Yer just going off the odo it reads accurate. Ive have tested for codes though the obd plug with test light only code is a running rich. I will try getting a tps switch tomorrow. Thanks mate

Hey I've recently brought a xh ute 4.0l auto I'm getting 260-280km to 50liters of fuel. So far I changed coolant, thermostat, temp sensor, O2 sensor, injectors, fuel filter and plugs and leads. There has been no change in the fuel economy If anyone can help would be great. Cheers Dane
