could also be POINT BOUNCE, i recall it being an issue on something i had, gap too wide possibly but mine was caused by worn dizzy bushings

That was something my first Escort suffered

next question is what does the 2.53 gearset belong too ? the 2.77 diff housing or the 2.92 ? maybe thom knows.

    Same hemisphere as a 2.77

Yeah, but whats it good for? 2.77 is too tall in my opinion

the XE diff will be 25 spline

so if you wanted to run 28 spline to my knowledge you'd need(i'm not 100% sure)

2.77 LSD center,  if wanting LSD

not sure if you can retro fit 4pin setup into them? (thought there was a 28 spline version though?)

if you wanted those axles you'd need the 28 spline spider gears in the center(no idea if they fit)

i think the EB axles will fit the drum diff if you put the correct bearings in and holders on? (never tried, haven't read about it for well over 10yrs)

i think you can convert from drum to disc by drilling new holes in the disc caliper mountings and clocking them different (the flange on the diff is rotated differently for drum and disc. )

@Thom may remember, @gerg may know even

if it was Mine, i'd be getting a 2.77 LSD diff with discs from an XF ghia/ZL fairlane etc (some were 2.92 for no apparent reason in my opinion)  and then having the gears fitted to it. leaving it 25 spline unless you are going big hp (stock 351 would be fine with 25 spline, I never had 28 spline in anything i had not even the 1UZ conversion)

    Agree 100%

I cant understand why anyone would want a 2.53 ratio crown and pinion, other than to say they have one

Huston... we have a problem... At this rate all the bolt ons and the radiator & Fuel pump are going to have to be scratched and new ones done.

Not unusual, and not a huge problem

you'll need to rely on @SPArKy_Dave in 12 days time, I'm taking a break for an unknown time. few other members on the ball but many have been slowly stepping back also.
the information is here, and you'd probably read about fuel line blockage in the gregorys manual also

I have been keeping an eye on here more since you expressed your intention.

I will try to help out

im dying to see this,as i have never seen or heard of such a diff ratio.i have heard of the 2.53 ,but not this other one,it dont make sense with such a ratio so close to the 2.92 or 2.77,we all know of 3.23,only thing i can think of is a 5 speed 3.3 litre ratio maybe.

I  have never heard of the 3.12.

I was replying regarding the 2.53.

  7. I have an XE at the moment that I suspect has one too.

Slower than they usually are (though that could be due to the elderly previous owner) and a 4.1 auto sedan without A/C.

I will take a photo of the tag next time I'm under it.

mythical ratio, has anyone seen one?

mate of mine said he had a 3.12 ratio in an XF that was factory fitted (never converted at least)

According to the parts listing, it was only XE 4.1 auto sedan, without A/C.

That would make it relatively rare as A/C was a very popular option

i am blown away by the seats.
i almost had the back seats done the same way to suit, but they are original and in good condition, so couldn’t bring myself to have genuine original seats cut up.

as a last resort, i will have someone modify mounts etc for me.

I have one more set of engine plates to try, and i can get another sized rubber.
however, a good friend Michael who also owns Mk1 Escorts, has a couple of sets of CORRECT 1600 engine mounts. Which are different to 1300 mounts, even though the blocks are the same.

Keep in mind there are 2 types of 1300 Escort engine mounts
