And could answer include what to do for a 250 too please? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk -
My xb coupe has a factory am radio cassette. Cassette doesn't work but am does. So I need some other source of music, either FM, iPod or usb etc. the catch is, I don't want to change the radio as it looks great. Is there a specific maple way to have a hidden source that is very simple? Others must have done this. Thanks.

Three problems Jack. The cassette player is stuffed, I am lazy and one of my hobbies seems to be paying way more than I should have for parts!
-
Thanks SD. Will drop in to panel beaters.

Apologies for basic question. On my standard Xb Fairmont Coupe (4/74), do I have bw35 transmission?
-
Yeh good option.
-
Yeh it's really important to have an original looking radio. The redirad installs in 5 minutes and nothing is changed

Found Redirad on eBay. Small hidden unit that sits in between aerial connection and has iPod connection. So no cutting at all and get full music. Cool. If they are no good, don't tell me. I've already bought it for $150!

Will have a look

Xb has constant power to wipers, radio, lighter no matter what position key is in. Would people agree that this is very unlikely to be an ignition switch problem but more likely some dick has connected 12 volts directly to something, probably radio?

Why are OE windscreen washers always disconnected and aftermarket put in? Are they so crrappy that there is no point fixing them? Looks terrible on restored car.

What about the cheap reconditioning kit on eBay for $35?
-
Yes. Looks like switch is faulty
-
Thanks for that. I am going to take out the barrel and give it a clean
-
Yes
-
Okay, thanks - so it could be the switch.

I don't need him for that!

Hope someone can help. The XB takes a while to start when cold and all else has failed so I thought I'd change the starter. Ordered the correct one but it only has 2 bolts. Mine has 3 and so does the XB manual. Rang supplier who said he had never seen a 3 bolt falcon starter. Huh? Also, is missing connecter to plug in cable to coil. He says it will work fine. I don't want to take it off and this bloody thing doesn't fit or work. Anyone experienced this?
-
Yes Dave. I have very much learnt that lesson. Thanks for not saying 'I told you so!'
-
Thanks to all those who helped. My wrecker gave me an auto transmission connector. Fitted perfectly. And now with choke working (thanks again Gerg) she started first time in freezing cold weather! A real lesson learnt.

Smart mechanic then
