    Speedo Sender Drive Gear INFO

From memory mine was out, but it 8+ years ago since ive run the fmx in the car so cant really remember. It was damn near perfect with whatever drive was in the single rail with 235/65r14 tyres

    Changing diff ratio?

Thanx everyone. Will get into it some stage soon and see how it goes. I know the diffs not in particularly good shape. And from memory, my warrant man actually laughed at the amount of back lash it has haha. It doesnt really work as an lsd anymore. The end plan is to swap it out for an xh/xg xr8 diff so i get the disc brakes and, from what ive heard, 4 spider lsd. Gonna have to address the pinion seal too coz it leaves a puddle evey time it moves.
  4. Currently the diff in the xb is a lsd, 3.23:1 drum brake out of a xf ute. I have the original diff floating around with 2.92 gears but is not lsd. My question, is it possible to get away with just swapping the 2.92 crown and pinion gears onto the lsd head? The 3.23 is great off the mark, but pretty not very good at 100kms. Now that ive changed it back to an auto, i can get away with fluffing round the final drive ratios a bit without running the risk of giving a clutch a hard time

    FMX dipstick?

Yea mine used to, hoping it still does. Been sittin on the garage floor for the best part of 8 or 9 years. They sure are heavy. I made the executive decision to bolt it up to the motor along with the headers and drop the whole lot in the hole in one go. Worked a treat.

    FMX dipstick?

Yea. I didn't really want to go down the aftermarket trakck if i could help it. I had a look on gumtree and ebay and saw quite a few fmx boxes for sale, unfortunately here in NZ, they arent quite as easy to come by it seems. But anyway its mended for now, how long it lasts i dont know lol. Thinking i might see if i can get some stainless steel and get the engineers at work to duplicate the original.

    FMX dipstick?

Good news!!! The dipstick lives to see another day. The engineers at work managed to save it and it seems to be very strong. Definitely a lot stronger than the last repair that was done on it.

    FMX dipstick?

Yea i did a bit of hunting and only found the lokar ones. Theres a few fmx boxes for sale in aussie but they are complete and i doubt the owners would sell parts of them. Will see how getting it fixed goes then go from there.
  10. Decided over the easter weekend that i would remove the BW single rail from the xb and put the FMX back in. I soon discovered that the dipstick was snapped about 2 inches down from the cap, a problem it had about 8 years ago when it was last in the car that i had forgotten about . Engineers at work said the may be able to fix it, but was wondering if anyone has a spare one they woud be happy to sell.

    Cleveland block

Block has 2K5 cast under the D2AE-CA number if that means anything

    Cleveland block

Yea i was thinking the likes of a bronco or F series. As for measuring the stroke, the pistons an rods are sitting in a box. From memory, i think the block needs to be bored 30 thou due to 1 cylinder having a medical condition. Has been a very long time since ive really looked at it. If its 351 crank and rods, will be a cheap stroker kit for the little 302 thats in my xb. Cheers m8

    Cleveland block

Ok, so ive had a v8 block sitting in my garage for about 15 years, pretty much complete with heads and internals etc etc. Cant remember if there was markings on the big ends saying it was 302 or 351. Block has D2AE-CA casting number. Im confused about the deep part of the oil pan being at the rear end of the block and the cylinder heads having the valves in a diagonal kind of arrangement instead of in a straight line like the ones in my 302c thats in my falcon. Wondering if anyone can give me an idea as to what this could be out of. Will try and get sum pics of heads in weekend.
  14. Been running pedders GSR's for years, never had any issues. Im not 100% sure on bilsteins, have worked on 100's of subarus that have them factory fitted and they all had the same issues, the internals always slogged out and started knocking. May not be an issue across the whole bilstein range, but just be aware as the are not cheap to rebuild or replace. Cant really go wrong with monroes. They well priced and the gt sport range give a good ride.

    302c fueling issue??

Its not running anything out of the ordinary. I do know that the headlights are dim and when the headlights are on, the alt light on the dash flashes on and off when i turn the indicators on. It was probably a 40 amp alt when it was new, think 39 of them escaped over the last 40 odd years. Noticed tonight when i had a look at it and found that one of the wires out of the back of the alt is pretty lunched so will be replacing that.
