if the EST works fine, keep it. because it works fine. the leaded dissy also works fine, if you want to use it just join the 2 wires to the coil as it is now. the engines aren't very different, other than rear main seal, maybe flywheel bolt size and various vacuum hose layout..

i reckon the datsun 1200 utes look awesome. never tried to fit in one though.. i heard the a15 engine from nissan vanette etc is a good base to work and looks same? not saure you'd need to turbo one, they are probably lighter than a gemini. the 120y sedan My brother had for a while was flat out doing 110kmh.. just as well because it handled like a boat. he drove a 1200 coupe and said it was awesome, didn't have the $1000 to buy it.. yeah, was long time ago... probably no change from $15k now? what's the XG like?

is the bottom in video the polished part? i actually like the 1200 raw finish going by that(partly because it means i don't need to do polishing)

i would say pros.. keeping the current exhaust if it's decent having people tell you a turbo is better(and when you ask them why? they probably will stumble and walk off) cons depending on fitup might be impossible to fit your hands in anywhere ? haven't seen one for ages having people tell you a turbo is better?

has the car been sitting for ages? sometimes the light switch gets dust and crap inside(i've pulled them apart and cleaned them, fiddly... where'd that spring fly to....) the blinker switch because it dips the low and high beams also gets dirty.. try flicking the switches on and off 100times or so. and same for high and low beam on the indicator stalk.. if that fixes it..might need to look for spares. pulling back (towards the steering wheel) on the indicator will "flash " the high beams.. see if that works.. could be bad earths in the engine bay something to try for starters

the F100 wrecker in Carrum gets them from time to time, last pair i saw there he had sold for $1200 though were already brown and good nic.

could get brown ex ambo scheel seats for about $1000 maybe

the trimmer i used to use would have patched that with a similar grey material for $200 odd probably back in the day.. if you watch enough tutorials you could probably do it yourself. i'd run it with a seat cover and call it done.. (and be on the lookout for others that direct bolt in. )

bargain of the century those seats! what is the original trim on the left seat like? (might be able to sell that trim(for RS owner to put genuine trim back on his) to cover cost of trimming them to suit the brown vinyl rear(maybe brown cloth center and leather sides?

did you try auto surplus? if you have the ring thickness, depth and bore size.. it's probably all they need(might be off a chev for eg)

i always wanted to build a boss motor from a windsor. but cost for all the custom stuff adds up very fast

i've had pistons machined to take a thicker ring when the groove was worn..(from revving too high with ridge worn on the bore) (should have bored it and new rings..no money problems) think the rings i got from auto surplus in mitcham, they still exist 20+yrs later (https://www.autosurplus.com.au/ ) wouldn't surprise me if they know what you want and have it?

sounds good, i've bought a few clutches from Mike there. mike also burned BGDAV though with a master cyl, told Dave it's the same one he has on his XE(was an XF one he sent) would not refund or swap it.. was a proper cunt.. so mixed feelings about dealing with him after that.

yeah everyone's different i don't care about paint.. pic of My gemini engine below currently(i had the engine out, could have detailed it but wanted it driving asap.. next engine will be tidy, see painted rocker cover) probably still won't paint the engine bay, because you can't see it when driving..

Still sounds like a fairly big project. Try to make sure you have the money to finish it before pulling it apart. Or have a good shed that for it and the parts to be stored until finished

back in the olden days.. people would fit an XY diff to XA to XD to get a wider wheel in. you can get wide wheels in on the stock diff, but it's just a matter of measuring back spacing(always confusing, there's different measurements used) but most 8" rims for cars pre AU will fit on the rear. you can go wider (there is space in the wheel wells for 10" wide wheels, but you'll need the correct offset(aka back spacing) i prefer the 7" on front and 8" on the rear, but you can't rotate the tyres if so.. (who cares?) 8" with the correct offset can fit the front, also depends how low the car is. you'll either have to copy what someone else has fitted or do some learning and measuring for the one off type wheels for width and backspace/offset

yeah they'd do, it's only for the look.. you'd never need them to see with( XD lights if genuine Bosch are very good when in good condition) if you drive in fog, that's where the low mounted lights work, by seeing under the fog..

nah, ghia never had S pack spotlights.. i'd always go for the under bumper fog style ones like that red one above has. (they just look like hella rectangle ones) those Sev Marchal ones are $500+ .. hard to justify
