Reckon this one looks like mine. The switch is in here..... I know earlier models (1971-1973 Mustangs) run one under the shifter. Like a blue plastic 'half moon' thingy..... Dont know about the F100 's ??

No, you're right. Not much info around for these old, heavy slushboxes. Pretty sure it's on the passenger side, up high, when laying on the floor. Of course, anything 50 years old may have had work done, linkages changed, etc... I;ll see if I can find a photo of mine before I stuck it in the Nugget, but, it had been overhauled years before and was in good nick, so didn't give it much attention. Stick chirps the wheels in shifting into second, Love it.!!

Hi mate, My FMX has the neutral start/reverse lights on the transmission.
-
Should still work mate, as long as the bottom shaft of the dizzy goes into the block. Earlier points ignition will work in a later engine, just dont fit.
-
Hi mate, can't see your pic for some reason... Don't forget the 4 little bolts either side of the carby. From memory they're 1/2" socket.?

Crossflow runs from bottle of petrol but doesnt from tank
bear351c replied to Nato of Falcons's topic in Crossflow
Blocked vent in the fuel cap.?? Try running it without the cap on. Sounds like a blocked filter, maybe one under the car where you can't see it.? -
Agreed. Don't need an expensive cam plate. The cam moves forward slightly with resistance from the dizzy gear etc...But it's not a high load area. I've never bought a new plate, ever. Still got the 45 year old one in my XB, and that gets a good hammering every now and then. Just make sure its nice and flat, no grooves in it, etc. DON'T over tighten the bolts, nice and firm with some blue never come off juice.!
-
Yeah, not much you can do mate, other than getting a smaller wheel. Have you thought about ripping the seat out and getting it reupholsted with less foam.?
-
Understand your frustration..... I had a threaded plug welded under my 9 inch, for the same reasons.

Nah, just cheapy, sealed beams from Kmart for this little black duck.....

Polished the chinesium light covers on my Marsbar last year, need doing again. Mothers polish and a drill, 20 minutes later..... Yeah..........I know.! Not a cool car. But the ones in the XB, just get chucked in the bin, and new ones fitted. Jobs done. LOL.

Knew you knew what i dont know...... Good info.

As far as I know, the 164 is larger diameter flexplate. If you fit the 157 tooth the starter wont touch it... Not 100% on that, Reckon I got a 164 on my FMX/351c. Imagine the bellhousing may be a different size to accomodate the larger flexplate...... ?

Reckon the top hose on the water pump goes straight to the firewall, then out to the heater tap, then to the lower brass take off spigot thingy. Yeah, and through a double clamp that hangs off the shock tower bolt. Pretty sure VL 5.0 litre heater hose is the easiest to use, its about a metre long with a 90* bend on the end, so you don't end up kinking the hose. cant remember the number...... it's 3 am.

Just thinking, GPS can be hit and miss with reception, if you go outback country, ... no speedo.!
-
Are they legit in all States.? Or do you have to run an original speedo as well.??
-
Haven't used either, but, I'd go with the Aussie version. Might struggle to get Trickflows from the States, at the moment.
-
Cool. Should be good to go. Wasn't too sure what stage you were at. I've used Comp cams stuff without issue, got an XE274H in my Clevo at the moment, great idle noises..
-
If you haven't bought performance gear for the valve train, don't rev it past 5,000. You'll regret it. Exhaust valves with pop the heads off, and you'll bend pushrods. Clevos were a truck engine, meant for torque, not horsepower.

I reckon the Phase 5 had them mounted on the speaker grille...??

Falcon XC Crossflow - Dying Oil Pressure
bear351c replied to Harrison Kotrolos's topic in 6 Cylinder Tech
Maybe your oil pump is dying.?? Was it replaced at rebuild.? Oil pump drive shaft under dizzy?? Gasket or Silastic or something blocking the oil return from the head to sump.?? Just some random thoughts. -
Good info there, Dave.
-
Yep, Clevo king knows his 351's.

Products like Helicoil, or Recoil will fix it. You need to rethread (tap) the hole, and install a "coil" with the head bolt thread on the inner surface. Looks like a small spring.
