Yea the plan was 408 stoker for the van, but never been sure on a bb, like I have the spare 302 at home, just more of a price weigh up on things on parts as I build myself and the machine work gets done for me at cost or less

Big blocks are cheap horsepower but heavy. Strokers get it done with much less weight but the bits are expensive, only the block basically remains, everything else is turfed for new bits

This block is 060 over already and is quite usable I sanded 1 bore by hand and fitted a new piston just to make sure its not a rattler and seems to be ok there also virtually no lip so I'm in luck, amazing what are the chances of finding a 460 block with 2km of your house ? Well I fluked it again.

You could get some aftermarket 4-bolt caps but they only do the middle 3 on Clevos and big blocks from memory. You still have to line bore them to get them true to the mains tunnel

No one has any stock gerg I have been searching online everywhere only ones that are available are the milodon set and they are about $700 and you still need the rear and front cap as well ,pro gram make them but no stock same as pro comp no stock by the time ya get it all done plus line bore its way too expensive that's why I just bought another block ,interesting on USA e bay there are many sets of 429 cj 4 bolt caps x5 full set for $1350 us also bought a set of factory 460 rocker covers and pushrods and rockers as well plus a few more cranks

Struck a snag as no main caps as I was promised he said he don't have em so I'm fkd but wait a minute got another 460 block this morning and it's the same shape just needs some TLC and at least it has its caps,I was quoted around $750 to line bore the other block and almost impossible to find a set of 460 caps I just bought another block and saved this project, machine shop costs are huge.by the end of the day I got the block looking half reasonable

Yes same rod,and pin height differences, there is actually more selection when coming to buying a set of aftermarket pistons for a 429 many companies make forged slugs because of the super cobra jet and others.

I haven't read much about the Lima motor, do they have the same rods between 429 and 460, or do they change piston pin heights?

Finally found some rods this morning but he would only sell the crank n rods so now I have 3 cranks, check how beefy these std rods are,I've read they are good for 500hp

There are still a lot of used but rebuildable 302 heads kicking around, can be had for not much. Still, in the States their aftermarket alloys are a lot cheaper than ours, and rebuilding factory iron 2Vs would be less and less feasible for HP per dollar.

If he insists on getting hold of some, maybe you could strike a deal with him?

i bought a heap of parts from america to finish off the engine ,now just a waiting game until everything arrives, good thing is i made a friend over there who has a mountain of 400s and 429/460s,we video on messenger and he is dying for a set of 302c closed heads (lol),he finds aussie clevo stuff a real goldmine, and giving him the rundown on info about how we got the tooling from the states then started pouring our own clevo stuff was a real eye opener for him,he did not even no about the D1AE high nickel 400 block i had,he has gone on a rampage looking one in the states.amazing when you find someone on the other side of the world that is right into all the stuff you love yourself,we have already got an idea about loading his container full of $200 complete 460s and 400s as where he is there is a abundance of them,a once a year shipment should be plenty to muck around with and sell, well thats the idea at this stage ,from the info i have dug up so far its double the price of a container ATM,from what it used to be,and our dollar is poor as well, but will keep it on the backburner for the moment, probly one of the reasons its very hard to find a 460 engine latley.if the deal works out i would love a few 429s just for info sake, you no,usual strip and rebuild while photos and description.

Oh it is rusted out!  I'll grab some photos tomorrow.
So I paid $600 for it. I'm happy with that for the diff, fuel tank etc. that I can use. I'll sell off the bits that are usable and then scrap the shell.

Guy I bought it off, paid $2999 for it last September!

Yeah mate I think you're right about the different gasket set, the big one with two holes looks like a throttle body gasket (they had twins from memory). Dunno what the cork one is, never seen or worked on one to know.

this guy covered the differences in extractors/heads (into sigma.. which may be interesting for fitment to XA-XG also?)
also ways to fix some of the issues with off the shelf pipes

If you can find a set for a reasonable price without the covid tax and barn dust allowance, yeah sure, no harm in keeping them aside for when you're ready, maybe get them freshened up while you're there. Just a heads-up, they do need their own extractors as the flange is different due to the spark plugs being at a different angle. You can use the normal ones apparently but it's a shit job to do the plugs

That looks nice, it didn't make 795hp at the tyres by itself though. There was obviously some extra lung capacity shoved down it to make that number.

I think your heads will be the limitation on your 302. They'll be the E7TEs with tiny ports and even worse exhausts. It wouldn't matter what intake you put on, they're good for about 300hp with a reasonable street cam. There's a reason why Ford went to the GT40P heads for their performance versions. You could tidy up your stockers if you're feeling sporty with the die grinder, you can make them ok I guess.
