Same 2.87 inch stroke as the 289 but with a 3.5 inch bore...better to start with the 289.

I’m on the hunt for a 5.0 efi and 4 speed auto to put into my Model A I’m attempting to build.

Got a lead on an EL era XR8 5.0 and auto, hopefully I can score it and slap a carb and dizzy to keep it simple.

Im a large portion down this route in Turbo form and from NZ, the one thing ive found in NZ is everyone has gone the EFI option years ago and hardly anyone knows about blowthru carbs or there tuning. {Zero support). I was lucky to come across a demon blowthru which has had all the metering blocks and float upgrades to suit. Converting a holley to blow thru is pretty simple and a few hundy but its the tuning of this set up that eats up the money you have saved. If you got a quickfuel kit ex USA with the pump and referenced reg your away or the Oz dollar is great at the moment for tried and tested options over the ditch.

I had a 351c with a 30 over bore built a long time ago that ran 2V CC heads, from memory the comp was pretty much bang on 11:1. Cam was around the 520-530 odd lift and 220-224 duration Crower.

I sold it off before it was fitted to the car, the engine builders had done a few to the same spec and they ran good...the person who bought it from me never complained.

Keep it under 5 grand, it'll last for years.  At 6 grand the stock valves will pop there heads off and play with the pistons, and the 5/16" studs holding the rockers in will let go.

Each scenario makes a very distinctive noise, you'll know when it happens.  😆

I am probably a month And a half or so from Mine being finished. Jump on YouTube man and check out some rear mount turbo cars there are awesome. I think there is a well known brown Torana that’s a street car with the rear mount set up, it’s bloody cool and it’s very quick from memory

Kit comes with manifolds, crossover goes back off C4 bell housing and turbo sits where our battery is in the X series.

Also comes with 3 inch exhaust down pipe which finishes down by the trans cross member.

This suits 64-68 mustang with SBF. Can’t see an issue fitting it in the XD apart from the steering box maybe???

    Parts list:
    Manifold kit
Turbo T4 (.96 ar hot side)
    Holley Super Sniper
Electric fuel pump and return lines
    1:1 rising rate FPR
Carb hat and cold side piping - intercooler (already have that)
    Blow off valve
    Exhaust mods
Upgrade alternator (still run 55 amp)
Oil feed and return for turbo - modify sump

All this is cheaper than the Torqstorm at $5900.

    What am I missing?

I purchased mine from vpw for $2050.

I am going a rear mount turbo less heat and mess in the engine bay, I can use the headers I already have and I don’t have to run a intercooler.

i am running a single Holley fuel pump, 2 fuel filters and a regulator, the factory tank is removed I just need to buy a my fuel cell now.

What do you get in that kit mate? Can you run power steering? Write down a full parts list of every thing you need man I will scare you.

Jam an ebay 3582 on it and you'll be laughing. Seriously, those 7-year-olds in China have really upped their turbo fab game. $500 for a turbo, inercooler, pipes and joiners!?
