Having done this conversion recently some traps for new players:

XG, XH and XF are all different in terms of radiators.  Sizing mounting points are all different.  XG rad mounts do bolt through the rad support into the XF mount holes.  The bottom rad support is miles different.  XG radiators do not have provision for the ubiquitous Eseries overflow bottle. I went and put an EF radiator in mine, had to make custom mounts top and bottom.  Had to space out and modify the receiver dryer to sit forward a bit more and chop quite a bit of steel on the support panel to make it fit.  The E-series radiator is just that much wider.  It also has to be balanced against the location of the coolant overflow bottle too, which on my car was helped by relocating the battery.  Because mine is mounted forward a bit the au hose was just simply chopped down. XG mount plates and regular XF/EA/ED engine mounts are all you need to make it physically fit.  Yes, it will be a bit tight in terms of spacing around the alternator but it will be fine.  Balancer will clear an XF front crossmember too. Regular e series top hose and XG bottom hose.  Be prepared to trim them a little depending on the radiator you use. For air con - crib the fittings TX valve, pipes etc from an XG.  Cut the hoses and mount to an AU metal mount on the compressor. Wiring - largely standard ford colour scheme runs across the XF to AU.  I hid quite a bit of it and ran it back inside the car, across the dash.  Engine loom will largely be easy, but you will need to interface Red switched power feed (ignition switch) Yellow Black Keep Alive Memory (constant 12V) HEGO switched relay - Au's run a 4 wire hego - so sensor 12V, and two grounds run back to the ECU.  12V relay for the heater comes in from the main loom Speedo - white wire will need to feed back to the computer Red black reverse switch back to the main loom (this is the 8 wire plug that normally  carries speedo, rpm, oil etc) RPM (pink blue) Air con  - Run the blue wire from the dash around to the opposite side of the car.  The two wires that run to the low pressure switch need to be connected to the XG TX valve assembly (or you can run the xf stuff with custom piping).  A seperate aircon wire will need to go to the ECU for ac demand. Fan relay controllers. Starter relay - its really complex so I bypassed it and ran the starter wire through to the Au ecu loom.  Au's run the starter wire through the transmission neutral start switch, smart lock, then the ecu which signals the starter relay.  So in effect the ecu doesn't make this call now the motor is switched on in the standard way. If you run the EF hose pipe assembly you will need to modify to fit around the strut tower.  This was made easier for me as I drilled and tapped the strut brace (Castlemaine rod shop brought) to assist. Get the rod ship lower stabiliser bar, life is just so much easier than cutting and shutting sumps. If you can get the au bell housing do it, its not strictly necessary but I managed to find one, to mount the xf t5 on the back of.  (so its got a lower first than a e series t5). Headers will land in a slightly different spot but e series stuff will help you out in a pinch Power steering lines - XG is metric and XF imperial on the fittings.  You will have to swap fittings to adapt to a e series power steering pump.  I used XG hoses and fittings, and swapped the xf fitting onto the pipe.

gerg beat me to it lol..

just remember, Thoms XH ute got 178 RWKW from efi that was all factory bits mixed and matched. (not sure on tune without reading it all again)

"a really nice Combo (what some of you will remember I had in my xh) is Au egas short motor, Ef xr6 head, ea cam, El intake with a set of extractors and a tune made 178 rwkw for less than $600<br /><br />"

There are a few AU XR6 VCT motors on FB marketplace at the moment, $500-700.

But I am wondering if I just give in and join the DarkSide and go the Barra and be done with it. Kinda getting tired of swapping motors. I really wanted to keep my manual, but you said I can use an AU bellhousing and bolt my T5 up.

Gday, the n/a barra swap is straight forward, i converted my XE sedan in a weekend during 2019 (barra, t5 with au bellhousing, ebay brought pre made 6 wire to hookup loom and unlocked computer)....did have some troubles with the computer settings which were mostly rectified by a mobile tuning guy afterwards (fault on behalf of the original guy who unlocked), still need to get the temp gauge and handbrake working but its great to drive.

I recently did the AU VCT swap into my xh, and previously done AU VCT into my EF, both again straight forward, aside from the sump mods required, both have J3 tuning chips and are smooth as, but should have just done barra.  the AU VCT engines getting harder to find in good condition and therefore are anywhere from 400-1000...i think my barra conversion owes me 2k all up...

    Hey Jack,

I like that little not normal falcon beast you got there!

Do the Atoto kits have Bluetooth? I’ve never heard of them, but they sound alright from what your saying, I’ll have to do my home work on them.

Well in case anyone was interested, I found out a little info.

According to inter web research the kit was made by USC who went bust many years ago and the moulds may have been purchased by Fibremaster.
See post 22 at the bottom of this page https://fordforums.com.au/showthread.php?t=54208

When you search fibremaster https://www.google.com.au/search?q=fibermaster&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&hl=en-au&client=safari the web link takes you to SSV website, so I’ve contacted SSV via email today to try my luck 🤞🏻

SirkWhyXF reacted to deankxf in XF Diff Swap
    i you can find them..
3.23 or 3.27 is fairly common., needs to be from a coil spring diff, (EA EB ED falcon, or NA NC or LTD equiv)
LSD was an option, called "spin resistant differential"
the EF and EL can also fit ... bit more mucking around.

the EA had 25 spline axles, (fine for a mild V8 still) rest of them are 28 spline with solid discs (unlike prior had vented discs XC XD XE XF)

EB /ED was the best choice if possible.. the series 2 EB diff and later you'll need to press in the wider lower bushes on the trailing arms, or add some washers to take up the slack at worst case..

hand brake cable from EA EB ED sedan will fit XE XF sedan with that diff

the EA diff has the same yoke on the diff as XF, the EB onwards you'd ideally use the EB ED sedan tailshaft (you can swap the diff yokes, or you can probably get a hybrid uni joint but it's not likely as easy to find.

with the brake line, you can get a metric to impreial adapter to use the diff brake hose (off the diff T piece) or you can do what i used to do(convert the brake line nuts to imperial on the diff at the T piece end..  and use the XF T piece... )

the EF EL diffs bolt up same, but you'll need to make up brake lines as they mount to the car at wheel arch ends not in the middle with a t piece..
hand brake cable also is a bit oddball .

    see what you can find,
there's probably a tutorial on here somewhere for each.. this was off the top of My head

EgoXF hasn't been at alpha for years now.

You'll also find Alpha recently packed up shop and moved to Qld - fairly sure they reopened up there but not 100% sure.

Kris, if your interested there is a powder coater in Blacktown who specialises in wheels. He quoted me $500 to blast and powder coat 4 wire spoked wheels for my mgb. I’ll see if I can find his details
