hahah thanks boys! i was in melt down mode yestie.. the mechanics just gave me a short curcuit... and i was like ahh ya fucken pricks!! i just reread my post and went uh oh that was worded terribly. Im pretty goo with most things.. done a few brake pad change over before. only thing i ely on ehavnt got in the shed is a hoist and a press. (Being a farmer cant always rely on dealerships if a break down happens) neighbours a head mechanic at jax tyres, so we will have a look at her tommz... sorry about the confusion... being in and out of hospital for tests that show nothing for last week or so... and stupid mechanic dropping a a bomb on me for $3500 of work... kinda got me wound up! good and golden now...

hey guys, xf needs a crankshaft seal.. is that a hard job to do? i understand you would need to take the radiator out along with the belts and all.. i mean can it be done at home? my neighbour is a mechanic at jax tyres im sure he will help out for a few cartons of beer... or should i just let him take it to the workshop and have it done? the boys that pinked it said the crankshaft would need to be checked if its got a groove in it... i mean it drives beautifully, only has 110k on the clock... and he goes if worst comes to worst you will have to replaced the engine... like huh WTF?????????????????? also the auto box at the linkage id just s tarting to drip and needs a seal.. should i be worried about these things? i mean i drive the xf occasionally maybe 100km in 2 weeks, as both my girls love going for a drive in it... ones 2 and ones 4... kids!! ... soo.. should i stop driving it until i have it all fixed?

hey guys xf needs new front brake pads, any threads that i can look at on how to do it? they were saying to repack the pads? cant you buy the whole thingy mi jiggy new? what ever they are called... ?

well that was a good read! ill throw up what the guys doing in the install.. hes a good installer my dads been to him over a dozen times... hes got great after sales service, even if you do it yourself he helps out with advice, tell you what to be carefull of and how to get a clean fit.

Ok so i went back to to shop.. told em it wasnt loud enough.. lol.. turns out they put a GT muffler in? now they gonna swap it with an sti... ? so fancy names for mufflers!!

oh screw it i shall just fit em up hahahaha.. more light = brighter rd at night= tad less chance of me running off the rd at night... since i dont have high beam these should be a treat!

Hey everyone, ive got a question for the blokes with hella lights fitted up to their front bumpers on the x falcons... what size LxW are your square hella lights? and watts? ive just purchased a brand new pair of hella commet 550 100watts but the thing measures 20cm x 10cm... they look a tad to big to me..? cheers Raj

well till date ive done all my installs... regardless of a new or old car... this time im thinking of getting a complete system front to rear but have it well hidden as dizzy said.. going the one company type... ie alpine whole was through professionaly installed.. thats what i meant what kind of system are people running in their x's? few clever ideas like stock radio but head unity under the seat ect....

Mines a 2,5" cat back with a muffler... Things awfully quiet for $550! The guys agreed to put a hot dog in and take the muffler out.. Will that help? Don't want it overly loud .. I've really gotta floor to hear it...

Ok so here's what happened.. Took and hour to unscrew two screws as they were shaved fully!! Tested the cut wires... First there was 12v in the black and red... Connected the new unit and it was working then decided to stop.. Checked for power again and no power... This time the power was in the blue and green wire... So we swapped them to blue Nd green... All good working fine.. Drove the xf to woopi about 35km listening to the radio... When we left to return home at night there was no power in the unit.. And I though oh well... Got home turned my headlights off and the unit turned on... Headlights on unit turns off... IDEAS? Also do the xf dash buttons have lights in them? Do they eliminate when you turn the head lights on? And my shifter has no light... Fun and joys of owning a 26yr old car!!!
