And likely a factory block, seeing as aftermarket ones weren't around back then. Maybe a pillow... That was as good as it got though Sent from my CPH1920 using Tapatalk -

a zk fairlane would be ok cause it has the firewall in the normal v8 position, the xf pushes in a bit more that makes the heater non usable ,and for a family car i think i would need it working, and for a roady as well, seems zl is quite easy to find and still an ok car,but i need a earlyer model where a c4 t bar fits spot on and prefer xe sedan or zk i will consider most models, even a xe wagon would be a good machine jacked up high at the rear and big duel exhaust ect,,,and of corse raised white lettering on the tyres. -

Might have to settle for a wagon or Fairlane as these are going a lot cheaper (in comparison). Sent from my CPH1920 using Tapatalk -

The 400 reco engine sold last night,$4000,picking up saturday, that facebook marketplace is 1000 times better than e bay,in just 2 days i had 2000 looks instead of 50 looks for 7 days on e bay,now have some cash to look at some wheels for my own 400 engine, but slim pickings out there ,i hope i can snag something that is not advertised, prefer xe sedan roller . -

I've come across quite a few in the last year or so I like em ,I see that block is the DIF casting ,very common in Australia as most of them came out of galaxy's ect,a few show up out of 4x4 s and f trucks like the CF block I just rebuilt Sent from my SM-A125F using Tapatalk -

I've been unlucky when it came to buying a 400. Purchased 2 over the years, the first one I went the trouble of getting from the US via ebay. At that time the aussie dollar was over the 90 US cent mark. Engine was fine except on hot days, it was bored 60 thou. 2nd one I bought it here, came out of a '71 Galaxie with a C6 and I currently have. This one is already 40 thou and needs a rebore, not going to bother. Gave it a hone but as you can see it ain't enough. -

im gunna get new arp rod bolts and have them fitted later on,and he also marks the rod with a x for some reason,i think its got to do with what way the piston faces ? maybe gerg knows. -

Nah it deserves a strip down and clean up tomorrow will continue on and gut it I reckon it's STD bore and really only bought it for the crank and rods for my other engine as ordering them from the states would have cost about $900 on USA e bay maybe more because posting a crank weighs heaps and just not worth it,will just sell the block if it's STD bore ,heads too, manifold ain't worth anything Sent from my SM-A125F using Tapatalk -

It's the original autolite coil that the motor was built with. -

Could that be an old Accel? US Fords would have had a Motorcraft coil, Aussie ones Bosch. Sent from my CPH1920 using Tapatalk -

Well said gerg, somebody swiped the covers off it you can tell by how good cond inside the heads are probly the power by ford blue ones I'd say also its a DIF block meaning Dearborn industry foundry so it's a goody not the Michigan factory crack one pre 78,and guess what it turns over easy Sent from my SM-A125F using Tapatalk -

Good thing about it being pre-75 is it's guaranteed to be a 400 and not a 351M (unless someone's done a dirty crank swap in the past) Sent from my CPH1920 using Tapatalk -

I managed to get it up on all 4s again and a quick suspension out of numbers looks like a very early 400 with 1970 cast dates also has the matching 2 dot 2vs and d1ae with heaps of abbreviations after it meaning its just a stocker not the rare high nickel I fluked ,also has plenty of bolt ons and a fan in gc not bent also looks like this is a complete cut out engine from the states which olm8 brought in stuffed in the container only paid 400 but for it and we'll worth it too.
